nice McTell I'm wearin!

Thanks to Chris B at Spanfest I bought for a fiver,  Fairport's 'A special catch' cd.These are 5 tracks which weren't used when compiling the 'Off the Desk' CD and all proceeds go to support the Cromer Lifeboat Crew Fund.

Most of you probably already know about this but it's beautifully packaged with a picture of the RNLB Ruby and Arthur Reed 11 on the inside cover plus a lovely picture of Crab boats with Cromer Pier and Pavilion Theatre & Lifeboat House. Plus of course Fairport with their touring camper van. Grin

Really impressed with these live tracks and especially the message on the back cover which reads....

"Please note this limited edition collector's item has been specially created by Fairport Convention and Deckchair Productions solely to raise funds towards the invaluable work of the Cromer Lifeboat and its crew. If you feel you cannot resist the temptation to copy it, though we cannot approve, we respectfully ask that you send a donation of £5 to the Cromer Lifeboat Crew...."

Not sure if there are any left but worth having and thanks to Chris for telling us about this one!  Cool

Have to agree JJ, nice CD and lovely packaging.

Had to get my parents to get this one for me when they went to see the lads at the Cromer gig, Mum even got it signed for me.  Grin

And its all for an excellent cause, which is the most important thing!!

We didn't make the Cromer gig, but, a few weeks later, spent an interesting afternoon visiting the Lifeboat Station, the Lifeboat Museum, a wet-fish shop which sold CDs (don't ask!!) and a pub before we tracked down Deckchair Productions. They certainly had a few left in May and if Chris has a contact it's well worth asking. As has been said the CD is a professionally packaged numbered limited edition of, I think, 1,000. Its well worth at least a £5 donation to a very good cause.

Here is a picture of said item, It is excellent value at just a fiver and all proceeds go to a very worthy cause.

You can get more information about the Cromer lifeboat at www.cromerlifeboats.org.uk

If you also check out http://www.deckchairproductions.co.uk/ you can find information regarding another exciting 2CD offering from the folk world in support of the lifeboats.

Well, there's certainly a lot of interest for this CD still, too many IMs to reply to personally.

I'll find out tomorrow just how I can get these to you all, and post again, probably here, as I'm sure it'll be in the public interest.

I am very reliably informed that copies of this CD will definitely be on sale both at the Fairport merch stall in the arena and on the Talking Elephant stall in the car boot on Saturday.

All I can say is that this is a limited edition, so if you want it, I would strongly recommend getting it on Thursday from the Fairport merch stall.

Koho - I'll get one held back for you. Anyone else that wants one and NOT coming to cropredy, IM me (again, if necessary).

Is Scott bringing these cd's along to Cropredy Chris ? if so it may be a good idea if he can also bring a box or two of this double cd set.

People might be interested in the product not only because it's fantastic content but because they will supporting the Lifeboat, such a worthwhile cause. Perhaps you would have a word with him.

I have & acknowledge three requests for this disc from our overseas friends - and one from someone not going to Cropredy. I'm currently pushed for time & will respond on Sunday.

Assuming it's not a commercial secret, (and purely out of idle curiousity since the Special Catch was highlighted on this board) does anyone have an idea of how sales of this item went? The CDs were certainly moving quickly when we visited the CD marquee and Danny T announced from the stage that there were less than 100 left mid-Saturday afternoon.
