Legend has it that she did an ad series for Shredded Wheat called "Two men in my life" and a Coca Cola advert. I've never heard of any copies. Maybe these big companies have archivists? The butter one is seriously weird, isn't it, though unmistakably her.

i remember it now.............
there are two men in my life to one i am a mother to the other i'm a wife and both eat shredded wheat
i will get in touch with them and ask about a copy.i don't hold out much hope though.i did an advert my self in 1971 for Sugar Puffs.i was a footballer at the time and it was the new "Sugar Puffs energy" campaign, after Jeremy the Bear.the producer told me,and i quote "we are sick to death of Jeremy the xxxxing bear man" when i got in touch with them (now Quaker) for a copy for our sons to see they could not locate it !

I'm starting to have doubts about this now. Just googled on the Shredded Wheat connection and found something saying the singer was Linda Hoyle: http://www.sailor-marinero.com/related_affinity.htmThe sources I've seen for the Sandy attribution are her childhood friend Winnie Whittaker (as quoted in the biography we're not supposed to mention) and Reinhard's trusty website: http://www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/~zierke/sandy.denny/records/hosken.htmlGosh, this is cutting-edge stuff. Only the other day I was blogging about Sandy and Fruti-Fort muesli, and now this whole new dimension in breakfast cereals...

The "butter" advert? Elucidate, please! It's an off-air audio recording of a TV commercial (for butter, I suppose). Only about 30 seconds in total. Opens with Sandy doo-dooing over guitar, then plumby male voice-over says: "When you think how little extra it costs... when you think how much pleasure it gives.. could you really give them anything else but butter?" Fade up to Sandy singing "We're all a lot better for butter". Melody line reminiscent of "Fotheringay" but not the same. Copies circulate among terminal saddos like me.

Yes, I saw that one, too, and I reckon that's more likely to be the case. I remember the Shredded Wheat ad, and I'm sure it didn't sound like Sandy's voice.. unless, of course, they made more than one ad with the same song but different singers - which is possible. I only remember the one voice though.

Amazing stuff...anyone know about the supposed Linda Thompson tv jingles/adverts for yoghurt and/or toothpaste? I'm deadly serious, btw. . Reckon there might be enough for another Freereed boxset if we're lucky

Didn't FC record something for Adnams in the late 70's?

In my distant memories I remember it to be Linda Hoyle. Saw her once, with Affinity I think. 1969.
