The Gravy Train has just been derailed - gone bust, kaput.

Therefore, the Fairport and Dylan gigs are transferring to Citadel, St. Helens. Same dates - Fairport 9th Oct, Dylans - 18th Nov. Same prices - £17.50 each but double ticket available for £30 to cover both. TTL supporting.

Tickets on sale from Monday, 10th Sept.

And Prof can wait in the bar and I won't have to send a runner to the pub.....

Hi Bernie, sorry to hear about the Gravy Train but I'm not surprised given the total apathy shown when making recent enquiries about gigs.

Count me in for the Citadel, a great venue but they seem to be suffering if the autumn events is anything to go by.

There is a famous promoting story in St Helens where a local "character" (who Bernie and Johnny probably both know) put the "Macc Lads" on in a local venue, didn't explain them properly, and had to climb out the gents window three songs in....

I doubt anyone got paid that night.

I remember that Macc Lads gig, Prof. Paid? I think someone was lucky he didn't get lynched. 

Johhny has a point re: Citadel which is floundering a bit. I remember sell-outs for both these bands from when I was in charge (there doesn't appear to be an icon for smug) and I'm sure they'll do well again. The audience (Is the singular "audient" ?) is there. If they d then we'll talk to Citadel about a monthly series. Maybe get Seth and The Mahones down.

You're right Bernie, there's been some good seasons at the Citadel. This autumn's mailing could have been sent out on the back of a fag packet. If it carries on like this the funding bodies must start to question their support for the venue. The Mahones in particular have gone down well in the past and the venue is just right for Seth Lakeman!

A monthly series sounds great Bernie. Ever thought of the Demon Barbers at the Citadel?

I usually get flyers in the post for events added after the main publicity, so hopefully news will spread with a decent turnout.

The biggest problem for the Citadel, is that they used to have something on every night of the week.  

These days it's more like once a fortnight - if they can be arsed.

That is how bad it's got - which is a waste!

I'd love to do a series but Citadel would have to be willing and I'm not convinced that they are. Seth, Mahones, Demons, Oysters, you name 'em, I'll get 'em. Make your feelings known to management - they think, because they get no complaints, that they're doing well.

If these gigs justify themselves, there'll be more. Otherwise, I'll have to reluctantly admit defeat and leave Tellins to the bar culture that's taking over.
