The seller fuffa37 is selling what is claimed to be Swarbs personal collection of vinyl...with Certificates signed by Swarb....
Do a search under the seller or under Fairport Convention - got about 9 days left to run so far.
No idea whether they are genuine or not.....?

Swarb sold his own stuff on ebay before I believe, user name swarbfiddle. Perhaps someone should ask him, just in case...

I'm asking........but it may be a while before I get an answer! Hi Jude - how did you get to know Swarb? Being as how your days in Fairport were different eras, I wondered how you'd first crossed paths. Jules

Jules I met and played with him a couple of times at the reunions, most notably Broughton Castle and the next one, and have become friends with his wife in recent years. See, you can't get away from that folky lot, no matter how you try......

See, you can't get away from that folky lot, no matter how you try...... Heh. I often wondered about that - how much yacking goes on offstage at Croppers between members of Fairport that were never in the same line up. I tend to imagine Simon or Peggy making most of the introductions. But it's lovely, that extended family vibe. I mean, just seeing the likes of Swarb, Jude, Richard, Jerry, Simon etc all on one stage together and then maybe popping off for a cup of tea/glass of beer and a social. It fair warms the cockles of my heart! Jules

No-one talks to each other backstage at Cropredy. I've watched 'em. They're all just watching each other wander about.

What amazed me with the swarb items was although, some of the albums went for large amounts, this included some I don't think swarb even appeared on, swarbs magnum opus "Babbacombe" Lee went for only £18 quid. I would have thought owning a copy of a record which is the heart and soul of the man, would have been priceless. Can anyone explain this? I know things like Trevor's Overlander is as rare as hens teeth but maybe I don't understand the collectors mentality, something I am possibly relieved about! Still please explain?

I do so agree. Rosie is one of my favourite songs of all time so I thought it would be great to own the album of that name which actually belonged to the guy that composed it. I got it for £17.50 and I think it was a snip!!

Congratulations on the purchase, once again the price makes no sense to me, I would definitely say you have a an item of folk history which I am very envious of, much joy to you. Brendan

and if one was feeling especially cynical - and I am sure that this is not the case with Swarb - what is to stop a "celebrity" simply nipping down to their local Oxfam, buying up a load of records and then flogging it on e-bay knowing that fans will pay a premium for something owned by their heroes.
I repeat that I do on no way think that this is what Swarb woud do but other rather more mercenary types may consider it. I guess it is always a chance when looking for some sort of provenance in an item where it has a high perceived value based solely on prior ownership.
