Last minute present ideas.

A friend has sent me this link:

http://www.djtees.com/tshop/store/listItems.asp

For some reason the link doesn't go directly to the Fairport page but use the search facility and you'll find them along with Dave Swarbrick and Richard Thompson T Shirts.

Somewhat 'unofficial' methinks...pretty pricey too for what they are as well imho...  Having said that, I quite like the Swarb and Thomo ones...

It does credit Alex for the logo, so I would guess this is official.

I was under the impression everything was legitimate so I ordered the multicolour logo. Heavily priced, yes, but the quality is quite good and thick. And it stands out nicely in the Cropredy crowd!  Cheesy

Yes, I've had the brown one for a couple of years now. They are a bit pricey, but good quality shirts.
The brown one is just like the Nine album cover.

Alex has nothing to do officially with Fairport, and these aren't official merchandise.

Whether they are offical or not are they any more wrong than the bootlegs that are discussed on this website?

They are basically dsoing the same thing - making money straight off the back of the band without authorization....

If you advertised t-shirts with the Guinness logo on the web without paying a licence fee, you'd soon be hauled to court...I see no difference here.

Which probably why there is such a financial imperative to register trade marks and image rights. The company seem to have hundreds of designs and if they are a problem some of the images they use are of people with a lot more financial clout than Fairport.

If this site is making money without aurthorisation how difficult is it for bands to stop them as the company appear to be UK based?

I agree about the ripping off but whenever I get to see a band the concessions stall has usually sold out of my size! This may something about the fans of the bands but that's another discussion. Still bitter about missing out on a Forty Glorious Years T-Shirt as I too began in 1967!

I remember this site being talked about a few years ago and they are quite open about things:

Quote

WE ARE 100% UNOFFICIAL!

We create and print all our own original designs here ourselves.
However, it's really, really important you realize that they're not officially endorsed by the artists concerned. They are in no way 'official' designs and we're not trying to pretend they are.

Our designs are 100% unofficial.

We're just two music crazy fans trying to design & print specialist, classy, small scale but upmarket designs for other music crazy fans.
Johnny Rocker!!!
If your just as crazy you could take a look at Johnny's Footy & Rock Bar, where I talk endlessly about Rock Rock Footy and Rock!!!

http://www.djtees.com/tshop/store/contactUs.asp

For more information:

I have no idea of the legality or the morality of the whole deal but they have been around for some time and it seems no artist feels the necessity to close them down either and considering the shirts they make that is surprising.

Let he who is without bootlegs cast the 1st stone has always been my motto Wink Grin Smiley Shocked

Would it be cruel to suggest these were overstocked?

I do own them.

The Cropredy shirts sold out at the festival didn't they?  Presumably they were re-stocked?
