Dear Peggy, I wasn't going to ask a question initially (then I thought of one - see below!) but rather was just going to use this opportunity to say a heartfelt THANKYOU for just being there and 'doing what you do' with FC and especially the good ship Cropredy. Since 1992 (I'm a late-comer!) the festival has become an annual highlight. Regardless of weather, line-ups etc I enjoy and cherish the event more with every passing year. God bless her and all who sail in her etc. On this theme, I have particularly fond memories of 'anniversary' years when FC played differing sets over 2 nights. The 30th especially, with the chronological set narrated by Ashley etc. Do you have any plans to do something similar for the 40th anniversary? Jeff (new to Talkawhile so I hope I'm doin' this right...) PS. Is that a Roy Wood t-shirt you're wearing in your Talkawhile profile photo? I've been a massive ELO/Move/Woody fan since 1973 (aged 9, Woody and Wizzard were the first band I "discovered" on fabulous Radio 1/TOTP). Any good Woody stories to share? Sorry that's 2 questions now...

Hi Jeff, yep it's a Woody T shirt and I am a huge Roy Wood fan and lucky enough to almost call him a mate! when we lived at the Angel all of the Fairports loved the Move 'cos we'd had all their albums given to us by A and M. records(our u .s. label). "Brontosaurus" and "Blackberry way" were particular faves. It was great at Cropredy with Richard and Roy doing that set. When Roy and his female band came to my studio to rehearse the set I had taken the trouble to stash a couple of bottles of dry white in the fridge for the ladies. I needn't have bothered. As the girls opened the back door of their bandwagon the first item out was a 24 pack of Tennants, well it might have been Diamond White. "Blimey Roy" says I, to which his reply was"Don't worry Peggy, it's the girls own stash"! We are thinking about Cropredy next year and my personal opinion is that we should try to represent all the fairport line ups where possible and indeed have a couple of hours of F.C. on the friday, maybe the years up to 1985 and on saturday up to the present day. This of course depends on ex. members wanting to be involved and I'm pleased to say at this time most of them do. I wouldn't mind some feedback on this subject, and indeed on who you would like to see next year. I missed having the Tommy Connolly dancers with us and again personally would love to have them back. Rics written a great jig on the new cd.which would be perfect for them. Best wishes, peggy.

So would I Chris but unlikely as if what Dave says above about the Friday night comes to fruition then if the GPs played Thursday there would be a good chance of up to 3 of them playing 3 nights on the trot. Shame. Good news about RT tho

What`s dawning on the horizon for Friday & Saturday sounds cracking. But how about a bit of contrast on Thursday ? Namely Kate Bush, Christy Moore, Chieftains, Steve Harley, Roy Wood

Hi Dave,
22nd Croppers coming up next year - loved every one!
With regard to next year i would love to hear some "Babbacome Lee " if that was possible. Ironically just the other day i searched YOU Tube for FC for the first time and came up with a great version of "The Hanging Song" from I think, OGWT.
LATER NOTE... JUST SEEN THE BABB> LEE THREAD>>>>SORRY
As to other guests .... I always say this. as a big fan of his, Steve Winwood... I think he only lives in Cheltenham, so he wouldn't even have far to Come!!
all the best and thanks Peggy

Hi Peggy, as you and the chaps are well known for encouraging new talent at Cropredy could I just mention (sorry boardsters, I am going to repeat myself... again!!!) Songs From The Blue House. I reckon Cropredy would love 'em to bits Mic

Dear Peggy /All... Thankyou for the reply. From reading it just now I think Peggy was asking for feedback on what we would like to see/hear from the FC set(s) at the 40th Cropredy and what spefically FC-related guests we would appreciate, rather ideas for the other non-FC slots on the bill (I could be wrong tho'!). So, here's my FC-only related set (mini-set) suggestions for coverage somewhere over the weekend next year!... Say a couple or 3 (or more!) songs from each of the following: (i) The "English Jefferson Airplane" era. (ii) Sandy stuff (Holidays/Unhalf/Liege + Rising For The Moon) (iii) An RT orientated spot (see ii plus... Full House stuff) (iiii) A Swarb-ish spot (selections from Angel Delight/Babbacombe/Rosie/9) (iv) Pre split stuff - Tipplers/John Barleycorn etc (v) The Maart years (Gladys thru to Jewel) (vi) The Chris L/Gerry era newer stuff (Who Knows to present day) That should do for starters...? My ideas for guests in the FC set(s): RT (and RT again - can u clone him?)! MAART (Wounded Whale PLEASE....), Swarb (It Suits Me Well with Chris on vox if Swarb is not up to singing), Jerry Donahue, Vikki Clayton/Julianne Regan. Whaddya think?? Jeff

Oh no! Much as I love the Aggies, let's not have a Christmas slot at Cropredy. The real thing in December is bad enough
