It just landed on the mat, nice to see Peggy back in the acoustic fold and that the full line up will be doing the acoustic tour Cheesy

Looks like Cambridge has a more effective postal system than Manchester, or maybe the flyers went out in alphabetical order. Wink

The shape of things to come??

How long before they scrap the big costing electric shows and reinvent themselves as a totally acoustic outfit?

I'm probably missing something here, but, apart from the set list, and (previously) the line-up, surely the only difference between FC and FAC is a full percussion array and some chairs?

More than happy to stand corrected, but to the untrained eye I can't see a huge gap in financial outlay (although the FAC venues tend to be more intimate/cramped).

I think that is right. The trouble is that wintour Fairport has become largely acoustic too so some careful consideration needs to be given here as to how the two incarnations will distinguish themselves musically.

Mine came about 3 or 4 days a go, but for some reason I got two and they were both addressed to Mum.

All this moderate grumbling about the tracklisting for the new DVD seems a little harsh when one considers that, according to the newsletter, the filming for it won't be completed until this year's Cropredy!

I see they are exhorting us (twice) to book tickets early. I hope the loyal newsletter recipients will be offered the chance to buy them before they go on general sale - unlike last year when it was weeks afterwards....

I don't need a newsletter to remind me about getting my Cropredy tickets - I shall be buying  mine very very very (very) early this year - I had such a narrow escape last year - I probably bought the LAST pair of tickets because the box office declared itself sold out almost as soon as I had clicked on the paypal pay button!

On the subject of Rics rubbish - they are like the Marmite of footwear aren't they?  The  "lovely plastic shoes" have a 3 to 2 ratio in favour in my house (Marmite is favoured 4 to 1 just out of interest- but I suspect the ratio would change if the question what would you prefer on toast) .

Has anyone noticed the relationship between rubbish and fiddle players - just look at the footwear of the Feast of Fiddles next time you see them  its like a blooming [ro[fest.

Don't really fancy horrible plastic shoes on toast. Wouldn't they be a bit tough? I suppose if you melted them. . .

I hope Nigel Schofield won't mind me passing this on -

Quote from: Nigel Schofield wrote on the FC List
Not only are Fairport electric preparing a dramatically new set - previously
un-lived recent material - some new material - some resurrections "from
dustier corners of the back-catalogue" (and if some of the songs mentioned
to me make it, I for one will be delighted to hear them live for the first
time in many many years) but FAC will have a substantially different set
list, drawing on old and new material suited to the approach, with some
acoustic reworkings of songs we think of as electric and some surprises
(ONBB should remind us that FAC originally used the opportunity to do songs
which might not have been right for FC).

This looks promising
