The best and oldest furniture cannot be rearranged

OK this is how Swarb’s Talk Awhile will work.

Swarb wanted very much to be a guest on Talk Awhile but at the same time he is busy with professional commitments. In order to do both, he has kindly agreed to be with us for two months, February and March. His commitments will obviously lead to periods of hiatus where questions will have to wait for answers.

It is quite up to Swarb whether he answers any question or not!

Because of the level of interest that I anticipate for this Talk Awhile, I am asking members to show some restraint.  I should like only one “open” question per member at any one time in order to allow everyone the opportunity to ask questions.  Once a thread has run its course, it will be locked and the questioner can put a new question in the usual way.

I shall keep the Talk Awhile under constant review, and if there are no fears of congestion or of over-keen members hogging the board, then we shall relax these arrangements.  If the arrangements are abused or ignored, we shall have to consider deleting questions until threads are closed.  The aim is to have all the "live" threads on the front page.

I hope that members will appreciate that we are doing this in order to give everyone an opportunity for access to our guest and to help spread the questioning over the whole two months.

You can start posting questions from 21.00 on Thursday.

We did warn you at the beginning of Swarb's residency that his professional commitments meant that there would be certain periods of calm whilst he is away.

The first of these runs from 12 Feb to 24 Feb and Swarb will be unable to answer any questions posted during that time until 25 Feb.

Probably best to hold onto them until then but we are not going to stop people posting during that period if they really have to!
