Two page spread on Sandy in today's Indie. She probably in the online version too.

I see there's the obligatory Trevor bashing.

I see there's the obligatory Trevor bashing. I'm not entirely sure a single word can constitute a 'bashing' can it? However emotive, and badly chosen that word is....

Word? "Notorious womaniser" is two words (count them ) There is also the suggestion that he had "abandoned" his wife. I thought from my reading that he was taking Georgia to see her grandparents in Australia, a journey difficult for his wife because of her fear of flying. So yes, as far as I am concerned, "bashing".

Pretty good article, I think. Some journalistic shortcuts, but you'd expect that in any daily newspaper piece. It's got to be great to see Sandy getting the attention she deserves, however belated.
What never ceases to amaze me is not the Trevor-or-anyone-else-bashing, but the ability of members of message boards like this to immediately bash such an article, rather than to welcome it for the praise and positive publicity it gives to the music, to the singer and the band.
Well done the Independent, I say.

Hmmm - a mighty long 'visit' then, as he had no intention of returning.....not even when told that she was gravely ill in hospital.
WEll done the INdy, indeed - they were the only press attendees at last night's tribute gig too. There may well be a review of that in tomorrow's edition. A gig also attended by Trevor's second wife, Elizabeth.

What about the photo captioned as being Fairport? It's no lineup I know of! Are the two with Sandy and Richard the Dransfields?

I think that's the case, yes. I'd love to hear what those guys were singing in that photo! Jules

I thought the article was a decent piece, regardless of any sensationalism. For one thing, it paints an interesting portrait of a much neglected figure of the Brit music scene and I suspect would make the casual reader want to at least hear something by Sandy to check out what the fuss is about.

Well, if you look at this information the Indy article is far away from bashing anybody. But, apart from these personal aspects, the article is a very good one and - as said above in this thread - really should raise some well deserved additional interest in SD and her music.

Good article, only saw the online version though. B*gger, would have been nice to see a picture of Sandy and the Dransfields!
It's wonderful that after all these years Sandy's getting more and more recognition. In spte of RT's remarks though, I hope her continuing profile doesn't depend on something like a blooming KDF Wagen ad! (ducks to avoid surfboards thrown by VW owners).

I, too, tire of the Trevor bashing. I wasn't there, I didn't know any of the people involved, and have no knowledge of the circumstances between the couple. I'll wager the writer didn't either.
But I do know I like the music produced by both of them.

Sandy was wonderful. I hope her music sees a revival. It's a shame Vikki Clayton didn't get a mention for all her work on Sandy's songs. Anyone know what Vikki is doing now?
