Hot on the heels of the best of Sandy BBC recordings best-of CD is this one.Culled from the recent box and released on 9th June.
Clearly nothing new here but for those of us who have the CD re-issue of Heyday and the Unconventional box but NOT the BBC recordings box,I'd be grateful for advice on whether there is anything particularly noteworthy on this.

You have much of it already, Neil, but you get two more tracks from the final Peel session which alone are worth the admission price. “Down In The Flood”, with Sandy’s double-tracked vocals, is a cracker. Well worth buying, I’d say.

Sorry if I`m a bit late coming to this - which I am - but I just had to post a few thoughts having finally bought the full 4-disc set and played it all.  Firstly, what a staggeringly wonderful version of "Bonny Bunch of Roses"!!  Worth the admission price for this alone, I think.  Secondly, how splendid to hear all the Judy Dyble material.  Thirdly, and yes I do like to have my cake and eat it, I wonder how much more material there is lurking in the vaults and from later years too.  I remember a session for RAdio 1 from the very late 1980s or early 1990s perhaps, with the "heaviest metal" version of Matty Groves ever.

I remember the session myself, it was around the time of Red & Gold, if I am not mistaken the session included, Set Me Up, Red & Gold, Matty Groves (Rutland Reel/Sack the Juggler) and the Noise Club. I think Matty was introduced thus, "Dave Pegg described this one as their heavy metal version of Matty Groves", and indeed it was. I would guess it was 1989.

They were on Radio a lot... John Peel was a very big fan.. he "introduced" me to Joni Mitchell and FC at about the same time (late '67 early '68 I guess)... Stuart Henry had a very soft spot for the band and I recall him being very shaken at the time of the crash... Happy days...

Unfortunately, they aren't available for us outside the UK. I looked forward to add some goodies to the son's and oldest daughter's CD collection at a very low price, but no....
I'll have to look out for them - nicely priced   - elsewhere!

I think the boxed sets are a bit too much for the young ones.    A nice collection of the best from each box will do fine for the time being.
Should they want more, there's always dad's boxes to pick from.  
But I did get a mail today (explaining today´s shopping spree) from the 21-year old Morrissey fan about how much he had come to love Sandy's voice over the last couple of weeks, when he had returned to the propaganda gifts he's gotten over the years. I. e. when a new remastered Fairport or Sandy CD was released and bought by me, he got the old one.
Sometimes those things work!
