Now here's something really spooky... I've just received my first personal message. It's a welcome note from another newbie called Simmo. How kind of him. But it made my heart skip a beat. The chap I was stalking in 1964 was called...Simmo!

Welcome AngieH. Your display name does not have to be your username, you can change it in profile settings. I don't recommend you change it to Anji though. There can only be one Anji in this world. Paul

Paul Surely there are never enough Anjies Apart from the Queen of TAW (we are not worthy ), and the newbie Anjie, there's the Bert Jansch version, not to mention the very soulful Stones number...

1. Who are you and where are you from? Hello. I'm Dave. I'm from North Oxfordshire originally but currently live in Chichester which is a good job because it would be a hell of a commute to work each day. 2. What made you join Talkawhile? Nothing made me. I did it entirely of my own accord. Having said that there were persuading factors. Namely that I had a question that I really wanted answering and knew of no other forum of such specialist/useless knowledge as this. My father has been on here for a while and is always passing on rumours about Cropredy line ups, I felt it about time to take the plunge. So here I am. 3. What do you know of Fairport Convention and/or Cropredy if anything? Well I'm one of those wippa-snappa's that has grown up at the festival. My parents took me when I was very, very young and they have been going ever since. I'm 25 now and I believe I have only missed 7 festivals. I missed four consecutively (2001-2004) due to working abroad and three when I was younger due to traveling and cub camp! So I'd say I know Cropredy relatively well. 4. What kind of music do you like? My tastes are eclectic but by no means comprehensive. I very much enjoy Irish folk, fast fiddles, bouncing bodrhans and such. Having played guitar for half of my life I enjoy almost anything with an acoustic guitar played well. Recently I have been making forays into reggae and funk. Bands such as The Beautiful Girls, John Butler Trio and Dispatch rank among my favourites but my iPod will flick quite happily from Flook to Seth Lakeman to Ben Harper to Jurassic 5 to Portishead to Fairport and I won't lose my smile. 5. What was the last gig/festival/recital/concert that you attended? What was it like? I was in Doolin county Clare last week. I caught a session in McGanns and when it was over a Folk troop who were staying upstairs brought down their instruments and a spare guitar. We left at around 5 am 6. What was the last CD that you bought? Would you recommend it? The Swell Season - Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. Yes, yes I would. Very much. 7. Complete the following sentence: “Tonight, Sir Robert, I am going to be my all time favourite singer John Butler (name of singer) and I will sing: 'Ocean' (name of song)

Hello All, righty, here goes!
1. Who are you and where are you from? Malcolm, born in Chipping Sodbury (yes it really is a real place) and after living in many corners of the world I seem to have landed back there again 41 years later but plan to move on to Bradford On Avon next year! I write, sing and play harmonica in my little band The Sodburys.
2. What made you join Talkawhile? Looking for festival listings for 2009 to plan my diary and make assesments of whether my own brand of acoustic / folk music might work somewhere!
3. What do you know of Fairport Convention and/or Cropredy if anything? Embarrisingly nothing at all I'm afraid!
4. What kind of music do you like? Pretty much everything that IS music, not keen on classical but appreciate how good it is, can't stick heavy metal, drum n bass, rap and the like. I prefer songs with strong vocals (harmonies preferred) and well structured lyrics to anything else!
5. What was the last gig/festival/recital/concert that you attended? What was it like? Show Of Hands last month in Marlborough. It was my first time seeing these boys and sad to say I wasn't massively impressed, brilliant musicianship but the sound in the church let them down I felt!
6. What was the last CD that you bought? Would you recommend it? Haven't bought a cd for years, tend to download the individual tracks I like and compile my own albums. About to download Trails Of The Lonely by The Lost Brothers as soon as its available. If it is as good as their tracks on myspace then yes i would definitely recommend them!
7. Complete the following sentence: “Tonight, Sir Robert, I am going to be James Taylor and I will sing: 'Lonesone Road'
Cheers Malc

Hi Malc I'm jealous - just think of that huge Fairport back catalogue that you have yet to enjoy You'll get plenty of 'listen to this first' ideas here

color=blue]Hello .. I'm Dave all the way from the sunny Isle of Wight .
I joined talk a while back in 2007 and did nothing with it until today.. And now .. well it seems like a year wasted.
Wearing my 1993 (black T shirt) Cropredy Shirt but I bought Holidays very early on and then History.. 9 or 10 Cropredies under my belt............
Folk music since the early 70s Folk at Moor Farm in Nottingham run by a guy called David Brindley but many other genres too.I play several instruments loud and bad I have just inherited a significant collection of music sheet music and instruments mostly dance and morris (I'm not a Morris man though) Last gig was IoW Festival of Folk Music A young festival .. most of audience was local musicians and dancers but its got a lot of potential ..
going to St Agnes Fountain.
Last recital was chamber music at Wolverton Manor ( an excellent site for a folk festival) very accomplished classical genre.
Tonight Sir Robert I am going to be Alexandra Elaine Maclean Denny and I am going to sing Fotheringay I recommend her to every one listen listen and look forward to meeting many people in doing so

Oooh I love a good Christmas quiz.
1. Who are you and where are you from?
Hi, my name's Nigel and I'm an... oh no that's a different forum isn't it. I'm from Yorkshire, but I'm an imposter- I'm a southerner by trade.
2. What made you join Talkawhile?
Talking to Mark & Jaqcui about the forums at Cropredy in 2008.
3. What do you know of Fairport Convention and/or Cropredy if anything?
Not enough! I know that I enjoyed it in 2008 and would like to go in 2009 if I can, though.
4. What kind of music do you like?
Folk rock: Levellers, FFR, Leatherats, Divokej Bill, Butch Ross... Plus everything from Ah-Ha to U2, via Faithless, Eva Cassidy, Manic Street Preachers, Flanders & Swann, Scooter and Van Halen. "Eclectic", I think they call it.
5. What was the last gig/festival/recital/concert that you attended? What was it like?
The Levellers, last night. Awesome!
6. What was the last CD that you bought? Would you recommend it?
Can't remember. But I lost a whole load of CDs the other day by leaving them on the train. And I'm rather annoyed about it.
7. Complete the following sentence: “Tonight, Sir Robert, I am going to be my all time favourite singer
Shane McGowan. And my non-existant girlfriend will play the part of Kirsty MacColl and we're going to sing Fairytale.
Thank you for letting me be here!

thanks Bridgwit.. it's a simple expedient of some photo manipulation software and has left me looking far less attractive than reality would offer! I think but who am I to judge? But I thank you all the same.
