Looking forward to being part of the community
I hope it's not the same as mine. I get 100 hours board community service every two days. Bugger.

Could I trouble you to polish my brogues and empty my commode - not at the same time, obviously. While doing your chores, would you be so kind as to sing me a medley of Elvis' Greatest Hits? And then read me a bedtime story. Thanks awfully.

I'm going to abolish Community Service and give you a clip around the ear followed by a sound thrashing, Frog. You'll thank me for it, one day.
As you can see, new members, we are a friendly touchy-feely community where every member, even a delinquent, is valued!

You know very well that frog thrashing has been illegal for many years, you old duffer. Please move with the times. You'll never take me alive, copper.

A very warm welcome to you, new friend. I understand from our Meeter and Greeter, the lovely Jude, that you are a person of good taste, impeccable manners and an interest in some or all things Talkawhilish. Excellent news! Hoorah, hoorah. My name is Sir Robert Peel. I am a Global Moderator of this fine debating chamber and talking shop. I am also an elder statesman of some influence, commanding considerable respect in those who don’t know me very well. Put your favourite CD on the gramophone player, kick off your shoes and make yourself comfortable. (Not that comfortable! Please cover yourself up by putting on the dressing gown and slippers provided. ) Now - can I trouble you to answer a few questions, when you have the inclination, time and patience. You can answer some, all or none of them, but we look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks awfully. Sir Robert Peel 220 years 1. Who are you and where are you from?I'm a scally from the north west who may need to keep a watchful eye out for you, Sir Robert! Currently living in north London where I do lots of naughty things including melodeon wrangling & experimental squirrel cuisine ;-> 2. What made you join Talkawhile? It seemed time. I also thought I might be able to vote for Saul Rose & John Jones? 3. What do you know of Fairport Convention and/or Cropredy if anything?I've been in the Red Lion at Cropredy a few times as it is a good stop between London & Rugby Roots and I'm interested in the area 'cos of the Civil War. I know very little about Fairport but I really like Autopsy. The idea of attending the festival by narrow boat is extremely appealing . . . . 4. What kind of music do you like?Live Music. Cracking tunes, spine-tingling lyrics, free reeds! 5. What was the last gig/festival/recital/concert that you attended? What was it like?Me & Mr Scally managed to sneak into the Bellowhead New Year party disguised as ship rats. There was so much going on but my top moments were Jon Boden dueting with Camille O'Sullivan on 'Fairytale of New York', Saul Rose & Eliza Carthy's 'Gimme Gimme Gimme (a man after midnight)' & Jim Moray's Silent Disco. Major Tom, Death & the Maiden - genius! 6. What was the last CD that you bought? Would you recommend it?
Telling the Bees - An English Arcanum. Both this and the previous album 'Untie the Wind' create a magical sense of place & power. Trees & birds & bees are the focus for the lyrics - maybe some fungi in there too ;-) I love the sound textures created by all the strings and the bagpipes tunes are a bonus. Both recommended. 7. Complete the following sentence: “Tonight, Sir Robert, I am going to be my all time favourite singer ……. (name of singer) and I will sing: ' ................................' (name of song)Oooo. Tricky - but tonight I am June Tabor and I will sing High Germany . . . can I do that slow SoH version with Steve Knightley?

Might get to Shrewsbury this year having just discovered Richard Shindell is playing (+ point) I've played his stuff regularly since discovering him there in 2007. However, neither John Jones nor Saul Rose appear to feature in a single set (- points) First stop of the summer looking like Oxford (lots of + points) & then Big Session (unmissable even tho' line up not confirmed yet!)

Hello familiar faces! Just back from a beautiful walk on the Ridgeway - saw a fox, lots of deer, falcons (indeterminate), buzzards & ladybirds(?) Called in at Tring in search of beer - I know there's a good brewery there, but sadly couldn't find a pub that sells the beer!
