Record companies are falling over themselves ot give my little site Salut! Live free CDs to dish out.......my Maddy Prior competition drew a lot of interest from Talkawhile regulars, so I hope no one minds if I also offer copies of Fotheringay 2 here...
the comp isfully described  at http://salutlive.com  - ludicrous web access problems where I live, in the UAE, make it hard for me to give the precise link but it is at the top of the site just now - and simply invites best or most vivid memories of Sandy, with Fairport...Fotheringay,,,solo,,, whatever (people too young to have known of her when she was alive are also eligible)

Nothing serious but free copies to the best three entries, as judged by me, and those entries can come here, at Salut! Live or at Mudcat

if they're good, as with Maddy, I'll add a fourth CD as a extra prize.

After my struggles from home, where I can work on my sites but not view them (UAE censors please explain the problem with Typepad!), I can now post the correct link to the competition:

                                    http://www.salutlive.com/2008/11/sandy-denny-fotheringay-and-three-free-cds.html

Entries can be left here, at Salut! Live or at Mudcat

I am unfortunateley too young to have memories of Sandy in any other way than on record. But thanks to my parents i grew up listening to her voice. As a small child I thought that Sandy was a fairy as her voice was magical to me. I'm not sure where i got the idea from but i think it was partly to do with the indistinct image on the cover of Liege and Lief and the fact that i was 7 and was getting letters in tiny script from the tooth fairy. The tales she sang about were magical and were about faeries so she must have been one right?

I continued to love Sandy. I remember vividly the heart stopping moment when i heard that Sandy was dead. I was 15 time and swore I would go to Cropredy to walk in her footsteps one day...

In case anyone else wants a stab - and thanks Tasha, plus those who have posted entries at http://www.salutlive.com/2008/11/sandy-denny-fotheringay-and-three-free-cds.html -

I have decided on a deadline of midnight UK time this Thursday Nov 13

I haven't quite been knocked over in the rush (it is asking a lot of people to be bothered to post responses to another site in hopes of collecting a rather modest prize) - but the replies are interesting nonetheless... and prompted me to interview Jerry Donahue, Gerry Conway and Pat Donaldson  for a piece in the paper I work for in the UAE . I'll post a link when published.

Just a note to say that Tasha's childhood memory of becoming acquainted with Sandy was my favourite of all replies received (mostly at Salut! Live) and wins one of the copies of Fotheringay. If she sees this, would she please let me have a postal address. I will send a private message to the same effect.
Full details of winners here:

http://www.salutlive.com/2008/11/fotheringay-three-winners.html

Thanks to Fledg'ling for making three CDs available (I have added a fourth copy), Talkwahile for indulging me and any among the 400+ people who viewed this thread and were encouraged to wander over to my site.
