There's a 1 page feature on Mr Thompson in the Feb edition of Uncut. Not a mag I buy often but it's got some good stuff in it - Johnny Cash (on the cover), Patti Smith, Jefferson Airplane and ZZ Top. There's a cd of Prison Songs etc which features JC along with other country and blues singers.
The RT feature is My Life in Music with himself talking about 10 records ranging from "The 1st Record I Bought" (Roy Rogers) to "The Band that taught me Trad Folk was Cool" (The Watersons).
Abba and The Klaxons are also mentioned.
