Thats a pretty good line-up, as far as I'm concerned. I don't have a problem with any of the Thompson family taking part, and it would be great if Linda was there as well... Linde has a great Sandy type voice, hope she duets with Iain. great that Judy and Ahley will be there too. Martin Carthy - hmmmm. Does he play the violin?/

I have it on good authority that Jude will be covering all the violin parts on her harp. True, honest.

Yes. I will be knitting them all mulicoloured dishcloths without zips. They will be attached by Peggs

... attached by the fair hand(s) of Puggs?  Wink

I'm really looking forward to this celebration, as I missed out on the early line-ups, only really picking up on Fairport around 71 (Angel Delight), although I'd been aware of them via the great John Peel's shows.  To see and hear, as far as possible, the original line-up - augmented by years of experience - will be a privilege.

Tonight's the first of 3 weekends of gigs for me - Imagined Village in Frome, then FC '09 in Adderbury next week (must find me fez!) & FC '67-69 in a fortnight.

No problem, a bit of "unhalfpicking" should soon get them off, hopefully just in time for the Michael Jackson tribute part of the show.  Wink

The Barbican website is listing several events before kick-off on the 18th:

"FreeStage pre-show 5.20 pm: Blair Dunlop, Linde Nijland (5.50pm) and Iain Matthews (6.30pm)."

Blair Dunlop - would that be Ashley's actor son?

Plus a film at 4pm about Vashti Bunyan (87 minutes).

Alternatively there is a nice pub in the vicinity if that doesn't grab you... Wink

Yes sure is. He's a singer songwriter as well as actor. Playing at  BIRDSEDGE VILLAGE FESTIVAL West Yorkshire this weekend

You can really see his dad in him, especially the eyes.

At the gig or at the birth, Jen?  Wink

Yep, Blair's got his Dad's eyes.

(BTW - elder son of Jacko, Prince Michael I, has his father's nose... in a little box.  Sorry, but I couldn't resist it........)

Ashley and (presumably) Blair nearly didn't make it to the Barbican.

Good friend Dave, driving Yellow Peril Skoda pickup in Chesterfield last week, bears down on distinguished looking chappie and dark haired young guy waiting to cross the road. Dave clocks them, stops, winds down window and says "I wouldn't stop for most people but since it's Ashley Hutchings....."

Ashley, totally unfazed, smiles, gives regal wave, and proceeds on his way with companion. A draw, I think.

Only 2 days to go. In spite of things I may have said on this thread and elsewhere I find myself getting quite excited! That may be partly down to having found an interesting looking pub to go to first though!  Grin
