I thought it helped appreciation of Jazz by Classical fans... See, there you go - jazz and classical. Two strikes already. Add in bland AOR, and they're OUT! Jules

I saw them at DMH and thought they were excellent (possibly the best sound I've heard at DMH too, from a tiny PA for the time). They did what they did, you can't knock 'em for that, and I don't recall anyone outside forcing people in Sorry mods - topic creep

I liked Sky. Still got several commercial cassette tapes around here somewhere. According to IMDB, Julie Covington appeared in "Samuel Johnson: The Dictionary Man" in 2006 ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0811052/ ), so she had not entirely retired.

Having covered, progressive rock, classical rock fusion the songs of Richard Thompson and the undeniably great Julie Covington it may be now time to get back on topic in some way.

Err - the thread is about Julie Covington, but it is possibly in the wrong place. Move it?

The thread was originally about Julie Covington covering a number of RT songs with a band comprising many a Fairport alumni and produced by Joe Boyd, seems to be in the correct place

Yes, my timing was clearly off when I started this thread! I have acquired a couple of copies in the interim. There is some nice stuff on there but I am not sure that I could wholeheartedly recommend it to people coming at it from a Fairport direction. The Amazon review gives it three stars. That seems about right.

I sort of know what you mean - also, you really need to turn the bass up on this record as it's too tinny. Joe Boyd produced it and he doesn't like the record or the cover. But a great selection of songs and musicians, and she was a great singer. I love it I have to say - even I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight with the drama student-esque vocals!
