I remember seeing Chas and Dave supporting 10CC at the Capital Theatre in Cardiff in, I think, 1975. They were very good, not like the parody that they later became.
Wasn't Gertcha used in an advert?
I remember seeing Chas playing bass in Heads Hands and Feet behind Albert Lee's guitar circa 1971, they were so good. The up and coming pre first album Sutherland Brothers were the support.

Good grief I was at that gig. And at Cropredy in 79. Although I don't remember much about it, having underestimated the power of cider.

I queued from 6am to get tickets and ended up in the front row. I loved the Capitol. Best music venue ever, but you couldn't stand for too long in one place as the carpet was a bit sticky

The sticky carpet. Everything was stickier in those days. It's all coming back to me. I was in Cardiff 74-79, and saw loads of bands at the Capitol: Supertramp (supported by a then unknown Joan Armatrading); Alan Stivell (twice - once with Swarb) - he was carried shoulder high into Queen Street; Queen. . .

Similar "furnishing" at Rotters', in the St John's Market/Centre, Liverpool (formerly the Top Rank Suite - and it was indeed rank). Bowie played the Top Rank, and I saw Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band there in 1980.

The ultimate crusty / sticky carpet capital has to be the Finsbury Park Rainbow with complimentary botulism.
