OK. This is going to sound a bit mad, but. . .
I was sitting in an Italian Restaurant in Central London last night and the background Muzak was English pop songs sung in English by Italians. Bizarre enough (Blackberry Way was one of them). Then a song came on sung in Italian, and I recognised the tune but couldn't place it. I kept humming it until two hours later it dawned on me it was, note for note, Rosemary's Sister (from Before Your Time). But it can't have been the same story as it was sung in quite a hard, almost aggressive way (I don't speak Italian).
So, has RS been translated into Italian and sung insensitively? Did the tune start life as an Italian ballad? Has the tune been nicked by an Italian songwriter and had new lyrics attached? Is it a complete coincidence? Questions like that. . .

Have you considered going back to the restaurant and asking them? They might let you see the CD info or something? They'll think you're mad, mind... (I know, cos I've done this once before, and haven't been back to the establishment since)
