Nice job Ian. Can't help but feel it for Vinnie Welnick who was a very sweet man, who made the decision a couple years ago to deal with the sometimes overwhelming pain of life by taking a knife to his own throat. Oddly I suppose, though he had known Jerry for a much shorter period, he had the most difficulty dealing with his demise. For me and thousands after that coma Jerry had in 86, it was more a matter of when, I recall Brent Mydland's passing 5 years earlier as much more shocking. Will always be pleased that apparently Jerry left this world with a smile on his face, like the song Brokedown Palace says, "I love you more than words can tell."

I've been listening to NRPS, and can't help hearing 'American Beauty' gestating in there. Dave Torbert sounds like the rock version of Phil, great bass player.

Didn't expect to see The Dead come up over here.  Just joined today.  They've long been my favorite band, caught 'em 81 times between April 17, 1987 and May 21, 1995, even on an off-night they were still the best band on the planet.  The vault releases have been wonderful.  I was a longtime DAT trader but gave it all up once CD-Rs became available and quality instantly dropped.  Realized I'd never have the time to listen to over 2000 Dead shows and sold off my collection, they've kept me plenty satisfied over the years with the vault releases, could go for a bit more acknowledgement of the 80s and 90s but I don't complain!

The latest Road Trips release focuses on an interesting period in the band's
history. Newcomer Brent Mydland was injecting new life into songs and

played at Penn State's  Recreation Hall and Cornell's Barton Hall - focuses
heavily on material from the recently released Go To Heaven and also
includes a number of stellar jams including a blazing China > Rider and a
top-notch Cassidy. There's also good versions of the  Lost Sailor > Saint of
Circumstance and Lazy Lightning > Supplication pairings.

Formerly The Warlocks contains every note played at the band's legendary run
of the same name at the Hampton Coliseum on October 8 and 9, 1989. This
marks the group's first box-set release focusing on material from the '80s.
There are plenty of highlights on these shows - of which high-quality
recordings have circulated for years - including bust outs of Dark Star,
Help On The Way > Slipknot! and Attics of My Life. Both sets are available
for purchase now with Formerly The
Warlocks running $69.99 and Road Trips setting you back $23.98.

The Road Trips I can live with, even without bonus discs, but those shysters at Rhino are certainly ratcheting up the price, with 6 discs & a bunch of tacky "souvenirs" for $70. C'mon.

Checked packaging & can find no indication that it is region specific. Plays OK on my undoctored & ancient steam driven DVD, so assume it is readable in all areas.

Sorry, I've reached the outer limits of my competence on this. I've checked my copy  again, but cannot find any reference to it being exclusively NSTC format, although it is a US release. I'm sure someone around here can offer sound advice.

I think it must be multi region Ian. My dvd player is about 8 years old, and it plays superbly on mine too. You'll love it incidentally.
