War on Drugs - absolutely loathsome (I lasted about 2 mins)

Phosphorescent, Jenny Lewis & Friends - really liked this, nice vocals, nice groove.

Hornsby and Justin Vernon et al - this is great.  It's a very moving song anyway.  Love it.  (It's even got some nice 'weird sh1t' in there as well).

Courtney Barnett - fabulous.  I love her vocals anyway.

The National - love 'em.  Love the Dead.  This doesn't quite work (I mean The National are all about Narcisist in Chief, Matt so I'm surprised he even appeared on this in the first place...it's the Dessner's that are the fans), although it starts to make more sense as it goes on.  A qualified success.

Three and a half out of Five.  I'll take that.

Having been quite taken with TWoD's "Lost In The Dream" a while back, I got pretty much what I was expecting & was quite happy with it., although I'd be surprised if it appeals to many Deadheads over a certain age. Carp fade out at the end though.

Never heard of the performers on "Sugaree" or "NSB", but thought they were both pretty spot on.

With the National, I've only ever heard a bit of live stuff which didn't really click, but their take on "Morning Dew" hit the spot.

"Black Muddy River" I enjoyed greatly even if the unfamiliar singer's phrasing (Justin Vernon, presumably)is a trifle eccentric & I especially liked the wiggy bit, hope there's more like that elsewhere in the project.

If the quality shown here is maintained, it bodes well for the rest.

Liked the graphics too.

Really like Jenny Lewis, but to me it sounded like little effort had been put into it.

Now I did like her vocals, but as somebody commented they are unmistakable. Which is much the same as repetitive.

I suspect there will be quite a lot of bias here, depending on preconceptions of the artist.

Personally I'm a little worried about the next 50 odd tracks still to come!!  
I must have been on a different musical road for too long, as I'd never even heard of Courtney and Jenny whatever their surnames are. If I'm being truthful I had heard of The National and War On Drugs but I'd never heard their music. I'm not really keen to hear more now!

Thirty five minute post "Drums" sequence as a taste of the upcoming '78 box. As expected from a "Betty Board" the recording quality is terrific, & the performance isn't too shabby either.

Well, you should be excited.  TC is a God and Mark Karan is one of the best Garcia influenced guitarists in the business.  Slick's no slouch either.  I once saw him play one of the best versions of Deal I've ever seen.  In Deal.  Odd moments of my life.
