This is really not my type of thang at all...but somehow it just about works.  I love Bruce's contribution to the late period Dead (he was in them the only times I saw them, of course) but the Range leave me cold.  There's some lovely Jerry on this, mind.  Bruce Hornsby and the Range with Jerry Garcia - Across the River:

Have you heard his version of  Black Muddy River on the Day Of The Dead tribute collection? Better than their original. (I may have mentioned it here before.)

Love "Across The River": Bruce & Jerry did have a great rapport.

Not at all keen on the "Black Muddy River" from "DotD". That guy's voice is just wrong. This, however, is how it should be done.

But these people nailed it totally;

Changing the subject somewhat, I recently picked up a Blu Ray player for pennies from a Cash Generator (pawn shop) in order to play a new King Crimson acquisition & to my delight found it plays US region specific DVDs, so I'm delving into all those US "Vault" releases I've not seen since the old DVD player passed over a couple of years back. A late night is in prospect.   Grin

Haven't been aware of any previous UK screenings other than "Fare Thee Well" & in general, I'm not a fan of the cinema environment, but I would be tempted.

The first one they did here in the states, to which I went, included a really good sound system installed in the theater. I don't know if they've continued to do that. Most of the available videos are from their later years, which aren't nearly as interesting to me, so I haven't been to any since then.

Some UK venues, but none close enough for me to be tempted, espeially for a '91 show. Having said that, it is a Hornsby show & the reviews on Archive.com look encouraging.  Smiley

Like most crazy Deadhead things (several hours of tuning from one particular year?  Why of course, sir...come this way), this isolated guitar mix from Bobby is both utterly meaningless, and incredibly illuminating.  Above all, it's fascinating....I've only dipped in and out for 15 minutes or so, but hey....

New 3CD set from 1991 "Saint of Circumstance" just out, and it's rather good. Nice clear sound, and mostly songs rather then extended jams.

Anyone else know what they were doing 29 years ago this evening?  My first, and penultimate, Dead show...

I would love to see this, but I don't think the stars will align. It looks like a one-off gig. It would be awesome if they would take it on the road.

Here's a bunch of stuff, free to watch, from those nice nugs.net people, that may appeal to some reading this thread.

Shows from Weir & Wolf Bros, Dead & Co & Joe Russo's Almost Dead among others.  Smiley
