Dark Star Orchestra - 26 & 27 September 2024 - Alexandra Palace Theatre, London.  I'm rather tempted...

Me too, but it's a slightly head and heart thing...a £250 trip to London to see a friggin' tribute band? I dunno...

See you there! Grin

Well, I just completed a 600 mile round trip to Northumberland to race a duathlon... so a quick nip down to London from Glawster? Seems churlish not to... but, do I go to one or both nights?  Assuming different setlists, of course.

Since I last posted, I have lost a dear friend. So I decided to prevaricate no more and booked a standing ticket for each night. I never saw the Dead, and this may be one of the very few chances I get to experiencing something akin to the real, er, deal.

I'm still prevaricating, mainly but not totally, because of my health...it could well be radiotherapy around there.

An (I think) absolutely lovely Unbroken Chain from Grahame Lesh and the rest of the gang in tribute to his Dad at a recent gig.  He's got his Dad's wonderful voice, but a whole new super improved version.  Sounds great.  Glorious.

I think you'd have to be a true fanatic to buy that.

Looking at it cynically, it could be a good investment. The Europe '72 & 30 Trips box sets have appreciated quite considerably in value. But no, I'll pass.

Have you met any Deadheads? Wink Grin

I know at least 5 people personally (all UK based) that are buying it.  And, yes, it'll be 'worth' double in a couple of years so...better than Gold.

But it's not for me...indeed, I've virtually stopped buying Dead releases - there's just so much live stuff out there for nowt that it doesn't really make sense.

My Dead buying days are more or  less over. Even as a vinyl buyer, I'm not tempted   buy the reduced  price reissues which are turning up in HMV and elsewhere.

That aside though,  given there will be buyers for this sort  of monster CD  boxes, where do they find the time, or indeed the stamina,  to listen to them?
