To clarify, this is what's known so far: Sandy Denny (Limited Edition 19CD Box Set), due for release 4 October 2010. "This superb limited edition box set includes 19 CD's, 11 of which feature Sandy's complete studio recordings with Alex Campbell, Johnny Silvo, Fotheringay, Strawbs, Fairport Convention and solo with additional content- outtakes, demos and live recordings. There are 8 CDs of bonus material - unreleased songs, demos, unreleased BBC recordings, alternate takes, live recordings, acoustic versions, and rare radio interviews. This set includes the legendarily 'long lost' Lord Bateman.
Lavishly packed, this unique collection features all new artwork. It comes with a 72 page 11" square hardback book containing over 100 rare and mostly unseen photographs, Sandy's handwritten lyrics (many of which are unrecorded songs) and fascinating memorabilia. Each CD is housed in an individual gatefold digipack sleeve. The box also contains reproductions of a beautiful original Island press pack, an exceptionally rare A3 promo colour poster for Northstar Grassman And The Ravens, a set of Postcards, the receipt for the purchase of her first piano and one of Sandy's handwritten notebooks."Universal's RRP is £140, I am told. Play.com's price is way over the top. Amazon UK is currently listing at £149.99, which I suspect will come down depending on the level of pre-orders. It's a tidy sum, admitted, but look at what you're getting for your money. Even old hands will be surprised at some of the supposedly lost gems that have come to light after exhaustive new research. Can't help wondering if 19 discs is a little too much of a good thing.

It would be nice to know what & how much is genuinely unreleased. Will this be the definitive article? Has the existing material been re-remastered? How many versions of WKWTTG will it contain? Do I really need a copy of the receipt for her first piano? Why not the tube ticket she used to attend the Fairport audition? So many questions, so little cash.  |

Hi Guys, I have been working on this boxset, and have compiled the tracklisting- which will be released soon! I think the way to look at it is, if there wasnt substantial high quality unreleased material then this boxset wouldnt be happening. Aside from two new songs - Lord bateman and 12th of Never, there are amongst other things demos for the whole Sandy album and most of Northstar that are exceptional and which fans will love; If you like Sandy in a more stripped down setting then this boxset will delight you! It is amazing that so much unreleased stuff has surfaced over the years, but after going through literally every master reel, this is really it! i would estimate that there is 15/20% unreleased material, and remastered versions of things like All Our Own Work, Swedish Fly Girls that have never been on cd. All the previous bonus stuff will be included as well- and will also make their digital download debut. The whole project has been a real labour of love and aims to represent Sandys complete legacy. The prices online do seem to be varying wildly, but they will equal out the nearer to release we get. best Andrew |

Despite the rather steep pricing mentioned above, I must say I'm very tempted to buy this one in the hope that this is the final version, every barrel scraped, no more tape reels to be found etc. Even though it's the music that counts, and I'm a huge Sandy fan, the thought of a 72-page book with maybe new information and a lot of seldom published photos is for me a bonus. The music is added yet a dimension when knowing the context in which it's been written. Well, I´d better start saving. |

I know i rather dismissed the idea of buying this when the price was first mentioned and i stil have reservations about the price, but it does seem to be the real deal and i suppose if i dont feed the kids for a couple of months or so  and if easy terms are available ............ well you never know  ive blown more on less in the past but i thought i'd put those days behind me  |

The mentioning of "The Twelfth of Never" prompted me to do a websearch
First hit Wiki had:
".....is a popular song recorded by Johnny Mathis and later by artists including Cliff Richard and Donny Osmond."
but also:
"The English singer songwriter Sandy Denny also recorded a version of the song for a TV theme, but the recording remains un-available commercially"
I'd forgotten all about this, if I ever knew it. Details anyone?
