Just given L&L a final play, though nearly forgot to stop the recent transfers on the CD version coming on. An excellent performance, with no weak players.
Now to find my old vinyl copy of Full House.
Back later with the result.

Result affected by the limitation of using only versions as originally released. Had expanded reissues been allowed, my vote would have been different.
Therefore it has to be: Full House v Liege and Lief

The players have played extra-time and penalties and are still level. So the Management team have come on for the final shoot out.
Dave M, Dave S, Simon & Richard have all scored for both sides. Peggy will now have to take two to even up the sides. Peggy & Ashley both score. Peggy hits the bar, whereas Sandy tucks her shot coolly in to the corner.
So my result is:
Full House v Liege and Lief
Both wonderful albums, but my preference for Sandy's beautiful voice has to edge it.
ps. nothing against Dave Pegg, but as he was only a manager for one of the sides it was easier for him to be the one that missed. Though in musical terms I don't think he has ever missed for FC.

Full House v Liege & Lief.
Although the classic and venerated line up of the L&L side looked to have this one sewn up in advance, the more robust and earthier FH side just shade a win. New signing was Pegg impressive at the back with the solid and dependable Nicol playing the holding role just in front him, leaving mercurial front pair Thompson and Swarbrick to play off each other in a seamless fashion which was just too much for the normally reliable L&L side, who have pulled off similar victories in this competition for many seasons now. We are lucky that the draw gave us such a memorable final, and had these two finely-matched sides met in an earlier round the result may well have gone either way but, that's football for you, on any given day one club can beat another.

What he said! Going to Tesco's soon (for my sins may the good lord help me......) will do a quick count up at around mid-day if I survive. Will that be an interim count up BD? Final whistle at 8pm.

In a post match interview, Spens expressed sorrow at his team's defeat, but declared how pleased he was not to have to end up playing against himself. Last time that happened, he said, he fouled himself quite badly and as a result was sent off, which didn't seem quite so fair for the Spens who was the innocent victim of the dangerous tackle.

Denny was superb in goal, stopping shot after shot from the FH star Swarbick. However, Thompson was just as enormous in the opposing goal, and the game was scoreless at the end of normal play. After two overtime sessions, however, the strain of playing with only 4 vs. 5 began to tell, and early in the third overtime, Denny unexpectedly left the net, took the ball the length of the field with nary a challenge from a defender, and blasted the ball past a leaping Thompson into the upper corner of the net. The FH manager said he intends to lodge a protest with FAFA, but he could not deny that his side was too tired to continue much longer. Thompson is looking quite disgruntled in a corner of the locker room away from his teammates and one has to wonder if his days with the team are numbered.
