I still haven't taken a pilgrimage to look at Fairport in N10, and because I'm aware of concerns that it might be ripe for demolition and redevelopment, I Googled it and discovered that it appears on Haringey Council's online planning database. There are no current plans listed against it, but there are four old ones:

23rd June 1948  - planning permission granted for "alterations to form consulting rooms for 3 doctors and a caretaker flat on ground floor with a flat above".

21st February 1978 - "Trim back tops of 2 sycamore trees in the rear garden".

3rd June 1980 - "Rebuilding of existing garage with self-contained flat above".

14th October 1980 - "Rebuilding accommodation area with bedroom accommodation over".

So now you know  Smiley

Fairport is on the Councils list of buildings of merit.  Another brownie point for Messers Nicol & Co. !

Is there a plaque?

I used to live just round the corner from the cover of Unhalfbricking, and always thought there should be a plaque there.

If there isn't one then we should lobby the Powers That Be for one.

I can't remember, are Blue Plaques only for the deceased celeb? Obviously Sandy is a key figure, but the actual house Fairport is arguably of more significance than the Denny house.

That's in Wimbledon or Putney or some other London suburb, isn't it? I used to think it was some idyllic rural village in the middle of nowhere.

The house is Fairport
The street is Fortis Green
The town is LONDON
and the postcode is N10 3BQ

Publicly available on Royal Mail postcode finder so I don't think this is a data protection issue, but mods please  edit remove as you see fit.

And here it is:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=N10+3BQ&sll=51.591023,-0.149632&sspn=0.000885,0.001725&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=London+N10+3BQ,+United+Kingdom&ll=51.591069,-0.14956&spn=0.007025,0.013797&t=h&z=16

An interesting question, Jim. I assumed it was Fortis Green and that is what the Royal Mail think, but Google Maps suggest Queens Ave. I guess I will just have to pop up there and have a look!

The first time we went to Cropredy I made a point of driving past the house as we set off - it seemed the right thing to do.

By the looks of it Tim use a post code search* on google maps.  This has located the centre of that code area.  I was always under the impression that the house is on Fortis Green Road, Jude mentioned this in answering a similar question on here many moons ago.
many thanks to Mr Fletcher for posting the link all the same!

*Off to check the validity of this statement by try his own post code......(Covering me own backside in case of being shot down in flames!)

Post Code search does indeed locate centre of a code, well  it does for mine anyway, was going to post a link but thought better of it!

Only on Street View. QA It changes into FG, Google's got the change in the wrong place.
