now i've got some time on my hands it's time for a complete list of acts i'd love to see at cropredy. some of them probably aren't realistic but a man can dream.

wishbone ash (they played on my first year at cropredy and i thought they were awesome)
the flaming lips (apparently an amazing festival act)

the family mahone

i haven't thought about it much, honestly.
if anybody actually reads all of this then you deserve a medal.

Would love to see Ray Davies. No-one has a better back catalogue for festivals and he would be a wonderful headliner. Proved at Glastonbury this year he can play to and engage with a big crowd, rather than just go through the motions as so many "names" do.
Also Madness - few better bands around at putting on a show
For the folk side, will be great to see Home Service. How about Salsa Celtica, Lau, Demon Barbers and Imagined Village? Would also be nice for Bob Fox and Billy Mitchell to get a decent length set

I've perhaps said this too many times before but I'd love to see a reunion of Robin and Barry Dransfield. Highly unlikely I'm sure.
Other contenders?
Roger McGuinn (especially as next year should be a Richard Thompson year and the possibilities of the two together...)
Dougie MacLean
Christy Moore (Planxty would be too much to ask!)
4 out of 4. Excellent choices. I saw McGuin last year and really enjoyed him. |

Whaddya mean these days?!?! Jules Saw him a couple of times in '87 and he was pretty good, Pino Palladino was excellent. That was 23 years ago Goat Doesn't Pino (local Cardiff lad!) play with The Who these days? Now there's a thought - how about The Who to close on Thursday? But then Madness would be brilliant Oh and everything Paul Mitchell said, esp The Flaming Lips. I claim my medal. |

I think Shane meant has a suggestion here caused a band to be booked. Given the number of suggestions that get made on here it is highly likely that some will coincide with actual bookings (in fact I'm surprised that only two suggestions made it; I would have thought the number would be higher) but those are only coincidences. The question really is, has Talkawhile ever had any actual influence over the line-up? I can think of two bands whose inclusion may have been influenced, albeit ever so slightly, by posts on Talkawhile: wRants and Leatherat. All other bands, as far as I'm aware were either connected to Cropredy by some other means or came to Talkawhile after playing the festival. Of course, If SftBH and/or Circus Envy end up on that stage we shall claim all the credit Never mind the ability, it's the chat that counts! Cheers Nick |
