Bought it, brought it home, played it, felt embarassed and somewhat nauseous, and promptly hid it in my wardrobe and tried to forget it existed. Horrible!
Try it with alternative fungi

I don't know why but it surprises me to hear you are not a fan of Steely Dan.
I like Reeling In The Years. But most of it is just too polished and, well, anal for me. I admire them, especially the lyrics, but I find their music too clinical. Jules

Try it with alternative fungi I don't think my nervous system could handle either shrooms or Gong these days, let alone cope with the dual assault of the two combined! Jules

I think Gong would be the most wonderful act to have at Cropredy next year , the sooner the better, as Daevid is getting on a bit and I am sure he must be thinking about hanging up his Mandala and Teapot soon.

I'd like to see you, GubGub, at Cropredy 2011 (wearing a fez) I definitely intend to be there next year Anji. I have only missed 2 in the last 20 years. Not sure about the fez though (whatever Steely Dan may have to say about it). I'm not sure I have a fez shaped head. I'll tell you what, if the Dan play, I'll definitely wear a fez. It would be quite amusing to see the look on their faces, wondering in some way if the preponderance of fezzes in the crowd was in some way a reference to one of their more obscure album tracks!

Hmmmmmm. Niiiiice open minds. All very well objecting to one act, but a whole genre? Give us an idea where you draw the line, it must be a bit blurry around the Steely Dan, Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Average White Band, Georgie Fame, Jaco Pastorius, John McLaughlin areas. I bet you don't hear any jazz down the Lowick Community Hall.
Of all the names you list above, I'm only a fan of Grateful Dead And just to bring it back on topic. Steely Dan for Cropredy please (though they are not by most accounts a great live band. Definitely studio animals.) I love them live. The 2002 (ish) gig at Hammy Odeon is one of my best ever. All the accurate perfection of the studio work with a brilliant live feel. Brass section, excellent threads, Becker looking as if he knew where he was. Last year or the year before they wheeled on Elliott Randall! Niiiiiiiiiiiice!!! I can't imagine them playing outdoors though.

I used to love Showaddywaddy. When I was a student, the guy who booked the bands was a mate of my mine and I convinced him to book them. He agreed on the basis that, since I was the Deputy President and would be authorising the cheque, it was OK with him.
They were already booked elsewhere the night we wanted them. Gutted.
We ended up with the Bootleg Beatles. Tragic.
Jazz: can we have Diana Krall please? If only because the last time I mentioned her on this forum, several people nearly exploded with rage. Purists - you gotta love 'em.
Someone mentioned Ian McNabb - The Icicle Works are reforming (again) next year.....

I love the fact Ian plays with exactly the same band, but people pay twice as much in 10 times as big venues when he bills it as The Icicle Works! He's a top chap...

Stanley Clarke, Jean Luc Ponty & Al Di Meola Playing The Rite Of Strings (Or anything they damn well fancy, really...). Throw in Philippe Catherine too. I'd forgotten about him, is he still around? Very much so. http://www.philipcatherine.com/In fact I think he should bring his friend. . . [attachment deleted by admin]

Back on the Paul Weller thread - I'd support this... but as an alternative, and probably a preference, I'd love to see Ocean Colour Scene there!

Saw Simon Fowler do a solo acoustic set at Moseley Folk a couple of years ago and he was superb. He has stated he'd love to play Cropredy as well. In either form it'd get a thumbs up from me.

Now I definitely can't picture her playing outdoors. She's definitely a dark club sort of lass.

I remember when he was in short trousers. But seriously, I think there's enough of that sort of thing at other festivals. Jules

He's a massive self confessed Fairport/Sandy Denny fan and has been talking of doing an album of Sandy/Bert Jansch material with John McCusker - delayed by a Mark Knopfler world tour for JMc Most peoples knowledge of OCS extends to the Mosely Shoals LP and the Riverboat Song riff used on TFI Friday - there's so much more to them especially if you delve into the Anthologies/ BBC sessions and B sides...

2nd album is complete, so I'm sure they'll be gigging around the festivals next year. http:// http://www.uncut.co.uk/news/fleet_foxes/news/14371I'm sure Midlake wouldn't say no, either...
