i really enjoyed john jorgensen in 2009 as i am partial to a bit of guitar virtuosity. therefore, wouldn't it be great if steve vai put in an appearance. he is probably too expensive, but i can dream.

Yup, another for the Blockheads. Do exactly what it says on the tin. Rocked Rhythm too.

Old Crow Medicine Show and / or Dave Rawlings Machine. Played the Troxy in London last night to a 2000 crowd. Had the joint jumping, especially when Gillian Welch & John Paul Jones joined Rawlings on stage....

[eh?  Gillian Welch IS the Dave Rawlings Machine (with Dave Rawlings), Chris.]  Ignoring that, yep, I couldn't agree more...both units are stupendous.  Gutted I missed them this time.

Did JPJ do all the UK shows btw?

He was there in Glasgow, don't think he was at the Belfast show.

He was reported as having been in Belfast, by one in the queue....but there was so much conjecture in the same queue as to whether Gillian was going to be there, that I'm nore sure you're right....

Ooh Midlake. Yes please.

I still find that new album a bit dull I'm afraid.

Yes please to Fleet Foxes though - they'd shine at Croppers.

What are you talking about?  Explain yourself man  Smiley Gillian Welch is the bloody Dave Rawlings Machine (or 50% of it)....

All I can say is that there was much conjecture amongst the queue....I ws there for nearly 30 minutes....

And there was at least 5 in his band too.

Never seen them before, so didn't know it was usualkly just Dave & Gillian (I knew they were partners)....if so,  they borrowed a fiddler from OCMS too....

Very odd.  There's never been a Dave Rawlings Machine gig without Gillian (there's been a few solo DR gigs but not many)....and most of the time it is just the two of them.

Most of the Gillian Welch gigs are just the two of them

DRM gigs are Dave, Gillian and three of the OCMS bunch (Ketch on fiddles and harmonica, Willie on guitar and Morgan on bass) with occasional special guests, usually on mandolin.

They are since just before the album but prior to that most DRM gigs (and they've been going on for years) were just Dave and Gillian (and sometimes a few guests now and then)

According to my household resident MOD. Paul Weller would go down well.

I had no idea he was talented in that arena.  He'll be stealing Sting's thunder from him.

Jazz: can we have Diana Krall please?  If only because the last time I mentioned her on this forum, several people nearly exploded with rage.  Purists - you gotta love 'em.

and can she bring her other half along for a set too?
