After seeing some band or other at the Robin, I was on the way out of the door when the dj played a Family tune which I thought was great. It wasn't the Weaver's Answer, but a laid back psychedelic type thing.I know this is a bit vague (and off topic) but do any of you Family fan types have any suggestions of what it may possibly might have been?

That narrows it down to about half their stuff, Mike. Any more clues? Like a lyric? Was it acoustic? Brassy? Did it have violin? You know, that kind of question.

Bill Bryson

Not on the stage of course, but there were rumours he was there this year and I would love to have met him. His books are wonderful  Smiley

Aswad - yes  Smiley

Kid Wilde - absolutely not  Sad saw here in 1988 supporting Michael Jackson and she was awful. Whiny, off-key vocals.

I'd like to add Carole King to the mix please.  Tiara now there's a talented lady!

Aswad - yes  Smiley

Aswad used to be one of the best live bands around, but then they went & did a Genesis!
IE: The drummer started doing most of the vocals & their material got much, much weaker, albeit it sold much better (naturally). I would love to see the Aswad who gave us 'African Children', 'Chasing For The Breeze' & 'Judgement Day', with Brinsley Forde on vocals again, but I'm not so sure about the current version.

Bill Bryson was indeed there, gathering material for his new book on the brits.

I've thought about this and decided that, actually, I would like to see my friends from TAW and beyond at Crops 2011 and in fact the bands, although integral and all that, are irrelevant. Grin

Yeah - let's forget the live music - double the size of the bar - and let Andy do the interval music again - but continuously for two and a half days.................... Roll Eyes

My nephew saw Supertramp a few days ago and said they were brilliant.

Trying to get him to Cropredy and they would probably seal the deal.

Isn't it great when our music carries on down the generations ?

Often, yes, but it largely depends on the band.  I'd be worried if another generation started getting into G*ng.   Shocked

But when the kids at school start talking to me about The Beatles, Neil Young, or even Show Of Hands in one case, then it does indeed make one feel glad.
