If you get Townsend, you'll get the wind-milling... It's always amazed me that he can do that.
Does he still do that ? I was under the impression he gave up after he impaled his hand on his wammy bar. He says he doesn't, but he does...just a little more carefully!

Two of the young guns that I'd like to see getting a slot: Sean Taylor - a blues guitarist that I'm liking a lot Josienne Clarke - A folk/folk rock singer/songwriter that's just crying out for Fairport fans to take her to their hearts

Not so much a band, but a couple of tunes I'd like to see back in the FC set - Si Bheagh Si Mhor and John Barleycorn.
And how about Pentangle?

In the article in R2 about Cropredy people were asked who they would love to see & Danny Thompson said "The Who". How about Roger & Peter doing a mini set during FC's, they could be helped by John Rabbet Bundrick on keyboards who knows Cropredy well. I think I can name a couple of fiddle players who would love to play Dave Arbus's part on Baba O'rielly & DP could enjoy trying to play John Entwhistles bass parts.

Like both of those suggestions Paul, especially the Pentangle idea.

How about Gary Louris and Mark Olson, with or without the Jayhawks?

How about Gary Louris and Mark Olson, with or without the Jayhawks? A definite yes from me. I also love the idea of Pentangle (as long as its the originals) but as so often with suggestions of playing in the big field, tend to think that they are more of a listening to band than a festival one and wouldn't go down that well (I know they played at Green Man a couple of years ago, mind, so I'm more than prepared to be proven wrong)....although best do it soon, as when I saw Renbourn (with Williamson) in May he looked (and in truth, sounded - vocally, that is) pretty awful.

I agree David, regarding the band needing to be the original members. I think they'd go down well in that early Saturday afternoon slot. Whether they'd be happy playing that early in the running order is open to discussion! Looking back though, what a phenomenal line up that band had eh?

Imho there's absolutely no way (the orig) Pentangle would go on anywhere other than a headline slot (or at least a RT headline slot - you know, when he goes on before the support act as sometimes happens when he is supposedly headlining!)

Pentangle? Well Bert's been unwell recently, hasn't he? Had to cancel some dates in the States. Not sure he'll be saying 'yes' to anything just yet.
