I would like to see the Home Service Headline on Thursday...The Band of Joy on Friday Night and FC as per usual.

Sounds good, but are Home Service potential headliners?

Lets have an Americanafest and add Wilco, Drive By Truckers , Conor Oberst, Danny George Wilson etc.

Don't see why not. They did a pretty good job headlining the Friday night in 1982. Smiley

Its a massively different thing now.  They're a second on the bill, or even a Sat afternoon attraction to me in terms of what Cropredy is (and financially, has to be) now...

Great band though.  I love 'em...

Being a broken record, I notice that the Decemberists have a new album out next year that they'll be touring.

Seconded (again!). Reasons include:
1.new songs are fab (as are old ones) - rousing chorus with intelligent, interesting lyrics
2. they've done a great version of Tam Lin live (plus many others)
3. played the best gig of last year - blew me away
4. they quote Sandy Denny on their website

Bring it on!

Never mind all this, let's get to more important stuff: who would you like to see at Cropredy 2012?

Aside from liking to be there myself, I reckon that Steve Hackett would go down well - his current set combines favourites from his time with Genesis and the best of his solo work.

I'd be up for that!

Do you think there's any chance of getting Hawkwind?

I'd rather have whatever version of Nik Turner's Space Ritual is current. Way more Hawkwind than anything Brock can produce these days.

Hawkwind or Space Ritual would keep me happy. Though Space Ritual would be cheaper!

I know this is the current default 'proper Hawkwind fan' position, but I'm not sure I agree.  I think Hawkwind are in excellent fettle at the moment.  Space Ritual are excellent too, of course.  Hawkwind could headline.  Space Ritual would be more of a Saturday afternoon treat...

I feel sorry for Dave Brock.  He's kept the mothership going for more than 4 decades, and is a truly lovely bloke...yet somehow he's lost control of the PR machine and let Nik look like the true hero.  If Nik had really been in charge of Hawkwind in the late 70s and early 80s there is no way they'd have survived.  I guess its what happens when 2 control freaks end up in the same band!
