Excellent news on the boys opening the Festival!!! Especially as it's acoustic, that means there'll be more room for some electric stuff on the Saturday night. Simon neglected his Strat a bit this year  |

The Urban Folk Quartet should be fine. They have a girl that plays fiddle (I think) who smiles all the time and seems incredibly cheerful. Could be a contender for the "Pete Bailey smiler of the festival " award for 2011.
As for who else, some ska and reggae would be good, also some bluegrass (Hayseed Dixie would be nice) and a couple from Nanci Grffith, Iris Dement, John Prine, Steve Earle and Emmylou Harris. Also some punk would be great, Slaughter and the Dogs or The Rezillos for example. Oooh, and The Dixie Chicks. And Hawkwind. And Horslips.
That's not too much to ask for surely.

No. I've seen them live though. Twice. Which is at least once more than I really wanted! Superb musicians. Fun original idea. But only one idea. Which is exactly how I feel about the UOofGB which is why I nearly fell off my sofa when I read someone on here talking about seeing them 60 times or more. Come to think of it I feel exactly the same about the Bad Shepherds. Covering songs in a different genre...yeah, ok...next please. If we are talking Bluegrass influenced music I'd highly recommend some of the Jambandy lot - Railroad Earth, Yonder Mountain String Band, String Cheese Incident etc |
