You don't want to see Neil Innes doing a Rutles show, trust me, not if you have any fond memories of the Prefab Four to maintain.
The last time I saw Neil Innes, however, he was doing a residency in Ipswich over the course of a month involving a five-woman vocal harmony quintet and an acoustic pop band. Everyone collaborated on each others' material and line ups morphed and flowed depending on what was being performed at the time. So you'd get Innes playing congas on a song about supermarket checkouts at one point and then a full band and backing choruse on a Rutles number the next. It was an extraordinary show and one that he was threatening to take out on the road which, if it happens, means (a) it'll be a great night out in a theatre and (b) it'd be a phenomenally disappointing Cropredy turn.

Yeah....Have to agree with you there.  It's often the intimacy of a small theatre that's required to provide the magic "extra" ingredient to make certain acts a little bit special. Might get very lost in a field of several thousand.  |

Haven't been to Cropredy since 07 but hopefully we're all ready for 2011. Here's my 10 cents; Edgar Broughton (solo, as the 'band' is no more) Arthur Brown (deserves to be on the Cropredy stage !!) The Rutles (would be great fun) Mark Farner (from Grand Funk Railroad) Osibisa (haven't seen them since '97) Leon Russell (and maybe his english friend?) The Stranglers Colosseum David Byrne Horslips (!!!) John Lees' Barclay James Harvest (RIP Wolly) Roger Hodgeson (would be super) and why not Peter Gabriel ??!! That is one mighty list... I'd go!! Colosseum!  And my all-time favourite hero Mr Gabriel  |

They would be great for Croppers I thought they played the best set of the weekend at Mayfest this year. Missed their main set the previous year but did them see them play an excellent set in the bar late at night the next day. |
