One of my fave RT songs.  An overlooked gem....until Planty decided to cover it.  Deffo the best track on First Light.  (I wish he'd find the mastertapes for that album and re-release it!)

Interesting that when asked his opinion of the Richard & Linda albums recently (I think in the Word interview) he said he thought those two were just not very good so that aim may not be being pursued as aggressively as people might hope. Glad I picked up the Hannibal CD issues in the mid 90s.

I thought the same when I read that article.  And I wasn't into RT in the early 90s so I missed those first releases.  I keep trying eBay, but they're in the 'silly money' category.  Just CDR copies for me for now.

yes, I've got them ported from Vinyl - it would be nice to have a proper package.

I bought it on vinyl sometime in the late ´80s when it was strangely available on both Chrysalis and Hannibal. I like it - the guest musicians read like a who's who of folk, folk-rock and rock.

I do wonder if it will ever get a CD remaster, as the tapes dissapeared on the way between Chrysalis and RT´s house. Also he has mentioned it being the album of his he likes the least due to the presence of the American rhythm section,  Willie Weeks and Andy Newmark, which was "perhaps stylistically the wrong call" (RT quote). You never know though, as he´s changed his mind about the Julie Covington record which he now thinks is OK - they were making that record during the day and First Light in the evenings...

There are some great songs on both First Light and Sunnyvista, got them on vinyl but would be nice to have CD's. From the Q&A on RT's site a couple of months ago, a reissue could be on the horizon :

"Finally, I'm sure you get this question a lot, but will "First Light," "Sunnyvista," and "Strict Tempo" ever see the light of day again? I managed to track down some used vinyl copies recently, and "Civilisation" is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard! In the meantime, I hope to catch one of your solo gigs next time you come to the east coast, and I can't wait to hear the new electric live album! Sorry to pack so many questions into one email, but I've been meaning to send one of these for awhile. Niles"

Well Strict Tempo came out again, didn't it?  But then he could find the masters for that one!

I don't think that has been out since the early 90s either. Stupidly I never bought that one when I saw it, though I do have access to a copy.

I recall Strict Tempo being readied for re-release a couple of years back.  I just presumed it had happened.
