A very happy 60th birthday to Simon John Breckenridge Nicol the first Fairport Fiddler, the vocalist supreme, the man who has been there from the start, albeit with a gap year or two.

Have a fantastic day, and thank you so much for all the pleasure, joy and at times comfort that your music has given.

Here's to the next 60.

Many happy returns and thanks for everything.

Sorry to pass on the bad news but having reached this same milestone in July  I now discover that it looks very much that the winter fuel allowance is a gonner until, at least, 65 and that I should eventually qualify for the bus pass in November - but that this is also being phased back towards 65.

Anyway, happy birthday young Simon none the less !

Indeed, Simon won't get his bus pass until 6 May 2011.....

So it'll be the the Acoustic Bus Pass Tour 2011 then!

Many happy returns to you Simon. Hope you have a fab day.

For some strange reason there's no mention of your birthday on the BBC News web site but they do have a photo of you with your fiddle...
