Okay folks, I am certain this has cropped up before, so if necessary Mods, do yer stuff. I can never get to grips with that bit of the song "Dave the drum who was passing by, bought the toy with a coin he'd picked up. You should have seen the gleam in his eye..................." okay guys and gals, you get the drift. I was listening to Angel Delight t'other day, and as it goes, marvelling at the power of Swarb's vocals, but this particular lyric always leaves me in the dark. Can anyone help?

I should have said
"...as he saw it soon, his, cleaned-up shined-up."

Well there were three Daves the nickname "Dave the Drum" could refer to. Pegg, Mattacks or Swarbrick. Paul

The Mighty Glydd(sp?) = Swarb
Apparently not, I've been told that it's Robin Gee, who was FC's road manager at the time. Actually, thinking about it, I'll have a stab as to why he's called the Mighty Glydd - I reckon he was really Robin Glydd but he called himself Robin Gee (as in, G for Glydd) professionally, because Glydd's not a very rock'n'roll name.

Talking of whom, his sleeve notes were headed "Extract from a forthcoming book". Did the book ever come forth?

Apparently not, I've been told that it's Robin Gee, who was FC's road manager at the time. Evening all, long time daily lurker here........................ You are correct sir ! I AM the Mighty Glydd, somehow the 'I' got changed to 'Y', it was a nickname that came from a Pete and Dud sketch in Not Only... But Also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKaIA8i0oaQAs for the 'forthcoming book', yeah I've thought about it on and off over the years and although I do for some reason still have an elephants memory of the very interesting times back then it's probably not on the cards. Let sleeping dogs lie and all that.( Unless someone wants to offer me a million dollar advance, jewellery will do ) I feel it's all rather personal and not for public consumption, as Peggy always used to say, one just has to 'bollock on'.
