"Always look on the bright side of life..."

This download album is being discussed on the Sandy Denny list.
I look at my "Before The Moon" double CD and wonder if this is a "new" compilation of the Btm material and if it will be released as an ordinary CD.
Does anyone have more info?

I assume what's being discussed re: FC with SD at Ebbets field, is this title at amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/Ebbets-Field-Fairport-Convention-Sandy/dp/B004N06E3K

It looks like an abbreviated version of "Before the Moon," with some tunes from both sets.  Without comparing, I already note that it omits "Bring 'em Down" and, of course, only presents one version of the songs they performed in both sets.

There does also exist a bootleg called Sandy Denny - Solo in Denver, April 1973, with the following songs:

Late November; The Music Weaver; It Suits Me Well; Bushes and Briars; The Quiet Joys of Brotherhood; The Sea Captain; At the End of the Day; John the Gun

This, too, was recorded at Ebbet's Field.  I've never seen or heard this but only read about it.

This website says the recording is from May 22/23, 1974.  My copy of “Before The Moon” says "early 1974.”

Also available in the UK from Play (mp3 only, it dseems)

Not sure why these recordings are being put out (again). It wasn't Sandy's finest hour. As a contributor to the Sandy list rightly says, hers is a "drunken and often sloppy performance".

Maybe a little drunk, maybe a little sloppy, but I still love her voice, whatever.

But is it the Before The Moon recordings or not?

It will be available in UK on CD (release 4 April):

Still don't understand why Jerry Donahue is putting this out again. Presumably he's happy with his guitar parts.

Sitting at work listening to "Down In The Flood" it sounds different to BTM to me.
Has anyone compared the samples on the above website to BTM?

The considered opinion on the Sandy list is that they're the same tracks - but remastered by Jerry Donahue.

Interesting how the album list at the end doesn't have "Before The Moon".

Hmmm. Just had a listen to the sample of Down In The Flood and compared it to the BTM version. To my ears they sound like completely different performances. Maybe Jerry has gone through the two(?) shows and made different selections.

Isn't anyone in touch with Jerry? I'm sure he'd just tell us what's new, if we asked nicely!

BTM was a 2-CD set (or at least my copy was). There were two versions of Down In The Flood on there. The one on the new album is one of them. Clearly the second performance of the night, as Sandy begins by saying "I'll try to sing it differently this time" - then proceeds to ham it up in a way that does no credit to her reputation.

There was talk when Before The Moon came out that a single disc would be released, perhaps this is that disc.
