I saw this on the Amazon-US site, but no track listing or any other information. It has a release date of mid-July. Does anyone have any information? I suspect as its subtitled "The Cropredy Festivals" it's probably a compilation of previously released songs from different Cropredy releases over the years.
I didn't see any other threads about this release or anything on the Fairport website, but apologies if it's already been reviewed, talked about, etc.

I believe you are right Jonathan from cduniverse: Double CD package of band's Cropredy shows from 1986 & 1987, featuring: Dave Mattacks, Simon Nicol, Dave Pegg, Rick Sanders and Martin Allcock with Richard Thompson, Jerry Donahue, Iain Matthews, Ashley Hutchings, Cathy Lesurf, Dave Swarbrick, June Tabor, Ralph McTell, Ian Anderson and Martin Barre. Tracks include: Who Knows Where The Times Goes, Meet on the Ledge, John Barleycorn, Matty Groves, Sack the Juggler, Woodstock, Suzanne, Wat Tyler, Rosie, Hand of Kindness. 28 total tracks |

So in essence it is another reissue of The Third Leg/The Other Boot (if I remember correctly), or Quiet Joys Of Brotherhood (same tracks more or less but with a bonus interview dvd with Peggy and Simon from about 5 years ago). Tonhe Other Boot cassettes I have came with a few bonus tracks, maybe some of those made it on this set. If one didn't have this I would recommend it, good set from that era of Cropredy history. I actually was playing Iain's version of Keep On Sailing with Ric on violin the other day; it holds up well, plus the set from 87 has my favorite version of Rosie, its where I heard it the first time actually.

I love the title! The Third Leg/The Other Boot has long been sought after and I enjoy the recordings on it, so it's nice some of them become available again. I might even buy a copy of this just because of the title.....  |

Thanks. I did a quick Google search, and came across it being sold on a couple other sites, but no information. I must not have looked at CD Universe.  1986 & 1987, so yes, looks like Third Leg/The Other Boot. It looks like the original had 31 tracks, so the majority of it it seems. Cool title, and glad to see it out again. Though, I think we'd all like to see a release of unreleased material from Cropredy, but again, a release of unavailable stuff is god too. |

Very confusing. As I understand matters, license for these recordings (AT2/TB/TTL/TOB) has reverted to Peggy et al. If they had been relicensed, I'd expect an announcement on the Fairport website at the very least.

Not sure about that. I don't recall them announcing the licencing of the Woodworm era studio albums to Talking Elephant, for example. There is a gap in the available Cropredy recordings in as much as 84 and 85 never seem to have had a release. I wonder if there are recordings of them? The set list in 85 in particular was a corker, both Friday & Saturday, with decent guests to boot. I'd love to see a release of that. |

why ? they never advertised the dozens of compilations that came out in the last 15 years that used the rough trade/woodworm releases as source material |

Because I have recently been in conversations about assisting those who want access to AT2 etc and if this release is indeed those recordings, then those I was conversing with would not have bothered giving me permission to be helpful in these circumstances.
I hope that explains my earlier comments.

This is confusing! I'm at work and can't properly check, but other than AT2 (1982), The Other Boot (1986) and the Third Leg (1987), then what year was The Boot? 83,84, or 85? Didn't one of those years have a video in place of the cassettes?
Jules, I think you could say that. 1985 was when Peggy, Simon and DM recorded Gladys' Leap....and weren't allowed to play it at Cropredy on Swarb's insistence. Whippersnapper was already running though, so I think it was essentially over anyway, other than Cropredy.

I think Cropredy 85 was recorded by the BBC. I've heard bits of it on several occasions on BBC 6Music, on "Live In Concert" and "Sessions" type programmes. There may be licensing required before it can emerge on an official recording. Cheers Nick |
