Session Guests

Hello Mark,
Over the last few years the majority of new artists that I have gotten into, have been through hearing them in session on shows you have presented (whoever selects them has an excellent strike rate for quality). I find it easier to discover music from a source which has such a reliable standard, than trawl through the neverending soundclouds and myspaces etc.
Firstly do you choose the acts who appear on your shows and secondly the predictable question, if you had a choice of anyone, who would you want in for a session (or even back for a session...music I mean)?

yes i choose the session guests - and stuart too of course.
we'd never have anyone on that we don't really like and we do turn down quite a lot of bands.
mind you, that's in the past really. we don't have sessions on the 6music show but then i'm not sure they work all that well during the day anyway. sessions are good at night when it's 'gig' time.
who would i have from the other side? sorry but i direct the honorable memmer to one of my previous answers: sandy, nick drake, led zep and elvis. now there's a show. oh and dylan could pop in if he liked too. Never met him. would love to.

Have to agree, there is a different energy at night. Dylan is someone, at any stage in his career is never boring. As for Sandy, Nick, Zep and Elvis, I would always want Janis, Jimi and just in case he hasn't already done enough sessions for Peel and Kershaw, I would love to here what Kevin Coyne would come up with.
