I believe you are correct sir. Although in my case I have it on that Attic Tracks cd of Sandy and Trevor. Also had a good Fairport version of Ballad Of Ned Kelly.

Swarb had some choice words for Mr. Johns I seem to remember!

I'd love to know what they were!

Jules

Well Jules, in hindsight not so bad...but I went through my stack of Fairport related magazine clippings. I think somewhere I have another related quote that maybe had some "stronger' language, but heres what I found- (quote from Swarb in Mojo)

Glyn came along to a rehearsal and didnt seem that impressed. But he decided to do it and stamped his own kind of SS personality on everything, so much so that DM left halfway though. I think he thought he was being asked to be just a country and western drummer, to just play on the off-beat. His playing on that album was great though, particularly on Rising For The Moon itself and One More Chance. Glyn was a stormtrooper, but what a sound he gets, like everything was sifted through gossamer."

Since its in the very next paragraph, I should include as balance this one from Peggy-"It was theo most fun I've ever had in the studio."

As an aside, interesting to note how many articles I have amassed over the years from magazines and newspapers about Fairport and all its ex members. Next person writing a book about Fairport...you know where to find me  Wink

It's also a bonus track on the expanded Rising For The Moon.

If I told you I thought Trevor had the better material on both the major band albums they released together (Fotheringay and RftM) would you think I was a little bit odd?

I would agree 100%. In fact, Trevor's voice was the first thing that attracted me to Fairport Convention.

Rising for the Moon is one of my favourite albums across the board. I love the title track and One More Chance is sublime.  I saw them for the first time ever live at Brum Town Hall on that tour, which as a young man was also my first ever concert. Life changing moments in music Smiley

Well, a sublime little epic called Banks of the Nile won't allow me to concur that Trevor's material was better.  But key point taken ~ Trevor is brilliant on both Fotheringay albums, and that he can even keep pace with Sandy is huge.  (That band was so perfectly balanced.)  Too Much of Nothing, Ned Kelly, and Eppie Moray are my favorites.  Love his vocal on Polly On the Shore, too.  Though I must confess I find his take on I Don't Believe You ~ both the Fotheringay & Fairport attempts ~ less than captivating.

Ha, just as I hit "Post" Bold Jack Donahue began playing.  Another great one from Trev.  (And another sweet solo from the other Mr. Donahue.)
