Swarb had some choice words for Mr. Johns I seem to remember!
I'd love to know what they were!
Jules
Well Jules, in hindsight not so bad...but I went through my stack of Fairport related magazine clippings. I think somewhere I have another related quote that maybe had some "stronger' language, but heres what I found- (quote from Swarb in Mojo)
Glyn came along to a rehearsal and didnt seem that impressed. But he decided to do it and stamped his own kind of SS personality on everything, so much so that DM left halfway though. I think he thought he was being asked to be just a country and western drummer, to just play on the off-beat. His playing on that album was great though, particularly on Rising For The Moon itself and One More Chance. Glyn was a stormtrooper, but what a sound he gets, like everything was sifted through gossamer."
Since its in the very next paragraph, I should include as balance this one from Peggy-"It was theo most fun I've ever had in the studio."
As an aside, interesting to note how many articles I have amassed over the years from magazines and newspapers about Fairport and all its ex members. Next person writing a book about Fairport...you know where to find me
