Haven't heard any spider stories though....

Me neither.  Feeling deprived now!

When he lived in Australia, he used to check his shoes/slippers for spiders etc. before putting them on........when he moved back here, he didn't, and, er......... Wink [I think that's right]

Maybe it would be an  idea to have a book that Talkawhilers could write messages, reminiscences etc to be given to Swarb on his retirement ?

Perhaps it could be compiled at Cropredy 2013 and put somewhere that people could access it over the weekend ( near the bar ?  Wink)

Apparently they are all on the web!

Great fellow, great musician, great entertainer and a great life lived. Thanks for all the great music and gigs.

That news makes me feel so much older myself. Wonder if the Daily Telegraph are reporting it?

Now where is that nomination form for the Queen's Honours List?

As Swarb has already publicly stated (after RT's award) he would  (hoorah!) turn down such an honour, probably best not to waste your time  Wink

It can't really be considered an early retirement, what with it being 14 years after his death.

He was in good form last night at Liverpool Phil (including a spider story). Really enjoyable show with Martin Carthy.

That's good to hear!

(Hopefully the memory of the gig will cheer you up after the derby tomorrow, Peter!  Wink )

And I'd also like to thank Swarb for all the music he's written, played & sung.  Definitely one of my musical "heroes".

I think Swarb would've corrected it by now if it had been hacked. He is a member here too, so could have posted something by now

Agreed. And in fact we not only got a spider story, but a full rundown of the various ways you can be killed by Australia's indigenous wildlife! Cheery old bugger, ain't he?

Anyway, this is what he's said on Facebook:

It would be nice to play the fiddle in the garden, rest my saddle sore arse and give jill a sqeeze when she least expects it.!

Can't argue with that, can you?

Strangely enough, I don't think I need any cheering up! I'm in an extremely good mood.  Wink

I wonder why...!  Smiley

Up to the dodgy red card, it looked like being one of the better derbies. Sorry to drift off topic, but referees really should be consistent.

Hope the weather's better for the next gig at the Civic Hall, mate...

Cheers
