Not long after the passing of David Rea comes some more sad news from the 1972 FC period.  Swarb has just mentioned on his Facebook page:"bad and sad news. yesterday the fine guitarist and all round good bloke Roger Hill died."

 Sad

RIP Roger Hill.

Sad news, remember his appearance with Tom Farnell at the Cropredy 2002 35th Anniversary celebrations, performing a cracking version of "You Ain't Going Nowhere". RIP

Was that him singing that? Love that version...I thought it was someone else singing and he was playing guitar. Going to listen to that later in tribute.

I'm not sure how much of a contribution Roger actually makes.  The lineup for that track was (according to the CD), deep breath:

Iain M, Ashley, Thomo, Simon, Gerry, Vicki, Marc Ellington, Swarb, Pegg, Chris L, Roger Hill, Tom Farnell, Eddi Reader, Fraser Spiers.

Oh my goodness, what a cast...must've been a cameo appearance by Roger Hill, don't recall that many people on stage at the time - still, Cropredy, 6X and the passage of 9 years can play tricks on the memory  Smiley

Oh dear.
When i was young I thought 'one day the people I like watching/listening to etc will start to die'.
It still comes as a shock every time.

I just saw that clip on Youtube and was very impressed. I know now what Peggy and Steve Gibbons and others were talking about now.....he was really, really good! Elegant and clean playing there, it sounded exceptional.
