Announced by @faircropfest onTwitter:

As they announced/plugged last night in Oxford, the mighty @Bellowhead will be performing at next year's Cropredy Festival. Yeah!!

the decemberists would go down a treat and i'd love to see the mighty arcade fire

I'd love to see the Decemberists there, and I think Arcade Fire might be better live than their music suggests (possibly like Bellowhead).

We need some rock tho, something to get people moving and lift the atmos a bit. Thin Lizzy (I know there's no Phil Lynott but you'd still get duelluing guitars  Cheesy ) would be awesome, although a Pink Floyd tribute (and there are some excellent ones about) on Thursday day would be (for me) the perfect start to the festival. And let's get Leatherat back but on Friday afternoon.

Please no tribute acts! Every tribute acts means one less genuinely original act.

Hear hear!  If the bill calls for rock, or prog or whatever there are plenty of originals around who can do the business.

Can we expect Westlife and Iron Maiden too?

It seems unlikely. Westlife are splitting up in Spring 2012 after their farewell live dates and Iron Maiden, although in the country, will just have finished their own headlining tour at The 02 the weekend before and it seems unlikely that they'd add another festival date so soon afterwards. Hope this helps.

Unless I'm being dim, Iron Maiden played at the O2 the week before Cropredy this year?  I don't think they've announced any dates for next year.  Shame, I got all excited when I read this!

So maybe they're keeping the diary free for a date in a field in Oxfordshire?   Grin

Except for the Dylan Project of course.  Grin   And The Hawklords. And Space Ritual. Not all at once of course.

There are a few old school rock acts still around though, as JeremyRS says, have gigged recently/are gigging such as UFO, Nazareth, Bad Co, Blackfoot, and all with arguably their most important peeps still with them. None of them are entrely intact of course.  No doubt there are many others who are not at the front of my brain at the moment.

Has Upper Heyford still got a runway?

Did make the mistake of mooring by the sign that said there may be ocassional aircraft noise once. Do you really need to warm and F1-11 up that early in the morning?

I'd prefer an original artist any day but I'd rather have a good tribute than a poor original. In some cases anyway!

Unrelated, any chance of Yusuf Islam ?

I'd love a full set by Yusuf.

Those five songs were possibly my favourite Cropredy moment ever. Non-Fairport and ex members ones excepted.

I thought the Yusuf set was as weak as a very weak thing (and one of the songs he played was one of the very worst things I've ever heard played live).

Yes - but not as recently as Bellowhead....
