Does anyone know when artists for this year are going to be announced? Most other festivals already have done this. I would like to know as Its going to be toss up between Cropredy or Beautiful Days for me this year, I can't afford both.

Tim, I believe general consensus is they start announcing throughout February. Unless they do something different, they generally are spaced out over time-its not one big announcement of the entire bill at once. As you can see earlier in this thread there are a couple of "confirmed but not confirmed officially" acts already, not to mention Richard.

And since I believe it has happened before, everything is subject to contract, and changes in lineup or running order may occur occasionaly. But should be enough of a taste to make ones mind up I should think.

I've already made my mind up - we enjoyed last year so much, we're definitely going this year. I was just wondering when the full line up would be announced  |

I'm looking forward to Cropredy this year (though I am sort of hoping Bellowhead headline on Thursday in which case, not being a fan, I'll save myself some money and get a two day ticket). As yet I am not sure who I am going with or whether I will camp, campervan or hotel.
It is beginning to feel though like the end of an era. I am not so fond of the authentic festival experience (tents, mud, too much beer, not enough sleep) anymore and prefer smaller ones like Wickham and Big Session these days. With Swarb possibly retiring this year, the Red Lion closing and redevelopment along the canal, the Cropredy experience is beginning to significantly change. The loss of the Red Lion in particular will make a major difference to the feel of the place. For Fairport lovers I think this year's festival might be really special but it is possibly the final opportunity for the band to celebrate their past to this degree. For me as a fan and a Cropredy regular it feels like this may be the last time.
Then again of course, it may not.

It's been emptied so it can't just open for a week sadly  Will be strange with only the Brasenose - and it means lots of competition for bands wanting to play the fringe too. |

I didn't even know there was a post office in Cropredy! Where is that then? Sadly I think that the closure of the Red Lion means that the fringe and village in general will suffer. People will be less inclined to explore the village with the pub gone. It will not be possible to squeeze all those extra people into the Brasenose and few are likely to want to carry their pint from there or the pavilion do drink it in the churchyard. It is a whole Cropredy tradition swept away. It makes me very sad and I suspect many people will just be tempted to stay in the arena instead. |
