Reports from a surviving festival, and how rain and electronics make for uneasy bedfellows. Incidentally, Dolly Parton’s bass player has subsequently commented on the “Great sound”. Regular Cropredy goers may recognise him from last year’s set with Richie Owens. https://skirky.blogspot.com/2024/07/micks-blessings.html

No-one covers Jimi Hendrix' "All Along The Watchtower" or Zappa's "Gumbo Variations" these days.
Oh, they never did. Not even on the Tube.

Love a bit of Roddy and Aztec Camera. I saw them a couple of times in the 80s, one tour Ian McNabb was the support act. The one song from the High Land album which I worked out on the guitar was Release. Some nice major and minor 7th chords on that one and it's one of the slower songs.

I think I've only seen Roddy once...supporting Bob Dylan at Hammersmith Odeon, early 90s. Oh, hang on...playing guitar with Edwyn Collins a few years back as well. He should definitely have made more of his undoubted talent.

Just looked - Nice little line up that one - Simple Minds, Bangles, The Cult, Waterboys and In Tua Nua. I did see the Waterboys at Glastonbury that year, which I know I enjoyed, but due to the chemical (in)balance of my head (I was looking for the Pan Within) almost anybody could have been playing lead guitar for them and I'd have barely noticed
