Glenn Frey  I became quite emotional at my last Eagles concert, May 19, 2015, at the Frank Erwin Center, when Bernie Leadon played the solo during "Peaceful Easy Feeling." I think I knew it was my final chance to see the Eagles, but I didn't know how final it really was. Didn't know they asked Bernie up. That's cool. He was my favourite Eagle. Partly because he'd been a Burrito, but mostly because of how he played that Tele. Jules Bernie was their secret weapon on the "History of the Eagles Tour." He plugged a hole created by the firing of Don Felder, he was a bridge to the old songs they dusted off for this tour, and (let's be honest) Joe Walsh never played Bernie's parts properly. RIP Glenn and I will never forget those concerts (1994 - Alamodome in San Antonio; 1995 - Memorial Stadium in Austin; 2003 - Nokia Live in Grand Prairie; 2010 - ACL Festival, Austin; 2013 - American Airlines Center in Dallas; 2015 - Frank Erwin Center in Austin). |

Trivia - Former Texas Gov. Ann Richards attended the Eagles show at Memorial Stadium in Austin, and they provided her with a front row seat on the field. She entered the stadium from the tunnel under the stage (I assume she met with the band before the show) and someone put a spotlight on her big pouffy hairdo. A big cheer went up because everyone recognized her even though we could only see the top of her head.

I really liked The Eagles when they were mostly a country rock band, not so much after Joe Walsh joined. They made a lot of great songs imo. I wanted to go and see them at Bingley Hall back in 1977, but no way was I going to pay £3.50 for a ticket, what a ridiculous amount. I'm glad I took a firm stand, otherwise ticket prices could have got out of hand.  RIP Glenn |

Strange that none of the obits, etc, that I have seen or heard has mentioned Tin Machine...  But I guess one or two clunkers in the midst of that back catalogue can be forgiven! Most of the obits I heard were on the radio and they all mentioned Tim Machine, albeit as an "...he didn't always hit the mark.." comment I only found out yesterday that he played sax for Steeleye Span (can't recall the track). A man of many parts, talents and facets. Some people have bemoaned the coverage given to his death, I don't think it was overdone at all - he was up there with Elvis, Sinatra, Michael Jackson etc. Did anyone hear Rick Wakeman play Life on Mars at the end of Simon Mayo's radio show yesterday?  it was beautiful I think this is on Rick's Piano Album, along with Yes favourites, and others.
