Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks. So sad... Rest in peace... Very sad. Cropredy 2009. So sad they were fab at Cropredy! Great lyric writer and Ever fallen in love is a seminal song...RIP Pete "On and on Circling 'round in my head As soon as you are born you are dead You know that Life without reason just can't be believed in"

Singles Going Steady on the way in to work. By crikey, what a collection of songs! Some of their later stuff is very good too. Only saw them once, in 2012, when they did a few dates with Howard Devoto and the 'classic' line-up and they were superb. RIP Pete.

Devastated Was a massive fan of The Buzzcocks back in the 70's and loved Pete Shelley's camp delivery of perfect pop songs, once Howard Devoto left. The Buzzcocks is my No 2 all-time Cropredy moment, I loved their energy and attitude. I was nearly 15 again! RIP Pete. Gone too soon x

Same. And not only camp, but Lancastrian camp - a winning combination. I loved Pete Shelley. I was blubbing like a kid last night. Jules

NO DEFINITE ARTICLE, people. You will only receive the one warning Aye, very very sad news. I adored Buzzcocks at Cropredy. I saw them one other time a couple of years after that...and had seen a solo gig in London in '85 which was fab. A major talent, and a major personality for the whole 'punk' scene. Oh, and if you don't know it check out the Buzzkunst album by ShelleyDevoto, which I was amazed to see came out in 2002! It is, officially, brilliant.

i had been out in town for a very convivial drink with some old compadres of mine. when i got on the tram home i rang the sister who informed me that Pete had died. maybe he just moved further away from the pulsebeat, at least he's not still ill. loved the buzzers since i bought Spiral scratch some 41ish years ago, first proper punk band i ever saw.

My first thought was "Oh Sh_t".
Those first three albums were close to pop perfection.
Saw them live a few times, first in 1978, and seeing them in 2009 was a Cropredy highlight, they were superb.
Thanks so much Pete.

Was at a gig at Wembley this eve: Charlatans, then James. Both Manchester bands.
The Charlatans said they were doing the next song in memory of Pete Shelley and wished they weren't. A pretty good rendition of Ever Fallen in Love with Someone, and the screen filled with a lovely photo of him. Very moving.

Suggs sang "Ever fallen in love" with Pete's photo on the screens during " It must be love" at last night's Madness show at the Manchester arena. The onstage DJ also played "Ever fallen" and "what do I get" in the interval between the Fratellis and Madness' sets to a huge roar from the crowd.

Honey Lantree, drummer with the Honeycombs. A singer, guitarist and drummer of some skill on a series of great pop songs most notably Have I The Right. She got fed up with folks asking if she really did p,at the drums - She did!!

Sad to say she actually passed away on 23 December...I should have reported it earlier when I read the report
