Another Spider gone. Why do I think of his sideburns?

With Trevor, it's the first thing most of us think of!
For me it's the huge fur earings he wore on TOTP - I had a similar pair  Embarrassed

While I know jazz music has virtually no currency in this realm I do believe there are one or two others of my stripe occasionally around here and in such here to note the passing of one of the music's finest pianists of the past 30 or so years , Mulgrew Miller from a stroke at 57 years old.
While carving out more than a notable career as a leader himself I came to know him through all the following associations, Art Blakey and the Jazzmessengers, Tony Williams Quintet and Betty Carter, all also gone from this world, plus too many others to name. Essentially a giant of his time and sorely missed. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/30/arts/music/mulgrew-miller-jazz-pianist-dies-at-57.html

amen to all that, Raymond. Well-written obituary in The Guardian too (for a change)...

An under-rated artist. He slipped under my personal radar for too many years. It was only when Mojo did an article on him I learned just how important this man was. RIP.

Alan Myers, drummer with Devo from 1976 - 1985 ish.
Saw them a few times in the seventies, then they just dropped off my radar completely.
Will now re-visit the first album/singles.

JJ Cale - died last night. I've got a few of his albums, but I never saw him perform. Such a talented man.
