It's amazing how sad stories like this (which once might have got a paragraph on page 37 of the Grauniad) now feature on the front page of the BBC News website....

Lovely comment on BBC report from Glenn Cornick's son: "To the end he was brilliant and cantankerous." Hope someone says that about me!

Yes it was!  I've looked at my programme from 1996 and there's a notice that he'd be doing a signing on Saturday afternoon.
( I got him to autograph it.)

Blimey, nearly 20 years ago.

According to his obit, he lived out his life in Hilo, Hawaii, a magical place where I could imagine doing the same.  RIP

RIP [non-musician performer] Joan Rivers.

Mrs. John From Austin and I saw her at the Paramount Theater on May 30.  She performed with the energy and stamina of a 20-year old.

"Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel OFFICIAL

It is with a heavy heart that we must report that Lincoln Anderson passed away today at 5.30pm, after a long illness. Steve and all the band and crew send their deepest sympathy to Lincoln's wife, Shereen, and his family and close friends"

He was the bass player in the current Cockney Rebel line-up. RIP. Sad

Reverting to Glenn Cornick's demise he even got an obituary in the Times. It's actually a classic and includes his son's comment previously mentioned.

Another bass player has left us. John (Johnny) Gustafson. Played with The Big Three and The Merseybeats.

Bob Crewe, aged 83. He wrote the Frankie Valli hits Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Sherry, Walk Like a Man and Rag Doll and Patti Labelle's Lady Marmalade.

That last song gave my brother-in-law the only french phrase he knew for years, Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir? Grin.

I missed this. That is sad. I didn't realise that he was that sort of age, though the Crusaders heydey is of course now 35 years or so ago.

That is sad news...I also imagined he would be quite a lot younger...Time does pass by quickly... Undecided

I bought my first and only Crusaders album (Street Life) just a couple of months ago...Initially to get the incredible title track with Randy Crawford...Ended up enjoying the whole (mostly instrumental) LP though !... Cool ...RIP

I also liked Joe's contribution co-writing with Will Jennings, most of the songs on B.B King's Midnight Believer l.p. R.I.P.
